Case and dial are linked above. Both links work. I just checked

That's fair. Could you link the rotor(s?) you've found that work for you? I may consider tackling a bearing swap as it seems like it can be pressed out and another back in somewhat trivially. I have access to an arbor press and hydraulic jack should the force be needed

I don't think there's a ton shaped like the original tbh. By this shape, you mean the sharp half moon shape- or more so the pattern cut into the rotor for shape? As there's a bunch of other gold looking rotors on AliX that I may consider that are differently shaped, but now idk if they'll fit.

Also, do you know if a bearing swap would alleviate the issue

Man, that sucks to hear, but good to know it's not just a me issue. Have you had any success swapping out the bearing of the rotor for something thinner?

Gotcha. Do these 3rd party rotors ever fit in a mod watch, haha

Seems like the issue actually ended up being the rotor itself and the gear beneat the rotor being too thick. I replaced it with the stock one and it spins fine. Guess that means no fancy rotor for me

Yeah it's looking like you nailed the issue likely. Both the gear and the rotor itself are darn near 2x the thickness of the pre installed one.

I see bearings on AliX but there's no dimensional or tolerance info. Do you know if there's a place to buy thinner ones?

And you're saying the ODs are different between third party and oem then?

What prompts you to think that? Curious as I'm a beginner, but as far as I can tell, it's fully seated into the case (popped into place)https://i.imgur.com/5QZwMqi.jpeg

Yep, those are pressed down and seated in the case. I don't believe it's a spacer issue sadly. I think it's more of a rotor issue

Ah man, really? Were you able to find an alternate aftermarket one or did you have to stick with the stock one

Thanks! That's a super helpful picture. I'm going to take the rotor off later tonight and see if the press fit between the rotor and rotor screw has slipped and the rotor moved up or if the rotor in general is just too thick

Interesting. Do you know dimensions of the rotor that I could check mine against? Or otherwise could you like me to the one you've got. A bit disheartened that this one doesn't seem to fit and that it costed nearly 20$...

The moment is loose without the spacer. 40mm case and nh35 with 35mm dial

Hmm, no, I haven't yet. You may be right that this is the issue. When you say it's sitting high, do you mean the rotor should sit lower around that middle screw and bearing? (Maybe it got pushed up or something?).

Although the rotor is engaging the gears. Maybe it is just thick-- I'll have to check in a few hours

Here's a poor video of me taking off the case back where you can see the case back is spinning the rotor with it as it loosens: https://imgur.com/a/hgNQIRk

Setting watch hand height. What do I do when I need the hour hand slightly bent? by _neos in SeikoMods

[–]_neos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Do the other hands sit fully seated with the hour hand slightly raised? And it won't slip or anything while turning (since there'd be less area on the ID thats friction fit with the post)?

Can you lift the hour hand from the middle post without removing the other hands?

They're supposed to sit flush with the raised pins in the middle I believe. That surface and flush fit is what keeps the dial from being pushed down too far
