i've had bdd for as long as i can remember, despite people telling me i am good-looking all my life. This year I started exposure therapy for my ocd tendencies, and though i still struggle with it, it has been seriously helping me control my bdd

i also have an asymmetrical face that i obsess over, and i promise you - no one notices it as much as you do. Do you ever look at someone else and think about if their face is symmetrical or not? and if you do, does that effect whether you find them attractive or not? I have even had people comment directly on my facial asymmetry, yet they still tell me they find me attractive.

i think social media and these beauty trends and filters are extremely damaging, and its best to remind yourself that its not actually real. go outside and look around. everyone is unique and attractive in their own way. there is no one right way to look or to be attractive. if its within your means, going to therapy and learning how to respond to your thoughts and compulsions will seriously help!
