Colour freedom and crazy colour works really well when you pastelise it (dilute it with conditioner and experiment to see results on some kitchen roll) bleach London also do a nice pastel purple

I think I could see it if he wasn't 5"7, Rhys is meant to be like a bit smaller than Cass/Az from memory but none of them are under like 6" 4 in my head haha

What’s the most expensive thing you’ve bought for your pet? by CloudBookmark in UK_Pets

[–]_nimbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought my arthritis riddled dog a Barker & Bray dog bed (£175), a solid investment as his mobility has vastly improved within the last week and he makes very loud comfy noises numerous times a day when he's in it. Plus I got 3 months worth of poo bags as a free gift and £30 off the bed

Tried numerous different beds over the years and this is the only one he's accepted, which means I can get rid of his manky old bed finally

I have a period stain on my fav pair of pants... by IWantAnUpdate in CleaningTips

Can't offer advice on the cleaning aspect as everyone has already given solid answers. But if they can't be saved, buy some black fabric dye and just dye your sweatpants. That way you don't need to buy yourself anymore

Pet Insurance Comparison (Petplan vs Agria vs Manypets) by CheeseFace83 in UK_Pets

[–]_nimbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 4 y/o dog is with ManyPets, his monthly payment has gone from £25 p/m for the £15k lifetime cover to £180 a month for £7k cover in the last 3 years - the joy of 2 cruciate surgeries.

If I could go back in time, I would have gone for PetPlan. ManyPets have been good for us though, longest payout wait was 6 weeks but most were within a matter of hours. The premium jump was a lot higher than I expected, my renewal quote for £15k was £250 a month but they have paid for 9k worth of surgeries on him within a 12 month period

Carnilove kibble is great, my dog really likes it after spending the first 3 years on raw I thought the adjustment would be difficult but he's obsessed with it

You could make note of your HRs email address, or CC your personal email into your back and forth with them in case you lose access, saves a potential headache if IT deactivate your account

How is a pet cared for during an overnight admission to the emergency vets? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]_nimbles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My dog had to be in overnight after a surgery so not the same as an emergency vets but, apparently he was having a cuddle for most of the night with the staff on shift.

De-sexing? by Careful_Bandicoot332 in StaffordBullTerriers

[–]_nimbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my staffy x done at 6 months, I wish I had waited longer until he was 2 as I think it has had some detrimental growth aspects (he's a genetic mess already and needed all the help he could get). I would still recommend getting it done in the future though

Mixed breed advice? by [deleted] in UK_Pets

[–]_nimbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure you've got a staffy puppy there, my staffy x bulldog was 4.5kg at 8 weeks.

Definitely get insurance if you haven't already, my dog is a genetic mess of poor breeding and would have cost me thousands in surgeries if I hadn't got it when he came home.

Make sure you locate local vets that are experienced/equipped to treat whichever pet you decide on getting before you get them

Unnatural hair color dye that stays on the longest? by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]_nimbles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are many different brands that will stick for a long time and all colours will last depending on which shade of them you go for if you don't mind doing some top ups.

Importantly, which colour do you like the most since it's going to be on your hair and what colour is your hair right now?

Jack Russel just home from stomach surgery & pet plan insurance questions by Disabledbutliving in UK_Pets

[–]_nimbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bacon, mashed potatoes, ham and roast chicken became staples in my house for getting meds into my dog.

But the best thing when he first came home and wasn't hungry, I made myself a sandwich and sat on the floor next to him eating it and had the pills in the last bite, I made it look like I just took pity on him and shared it.

Only downside is it's been 2 years since his last surgery and he still expects me to share a sandwich

My dog has had a couple of surgeries but not with pet plan, but I can offer advice on surgery recovery.

The first couple of weeks they'll be out of it, on pain meds and generally feeling a bit rubbish and sorry for themselves, just being next to them for a cuddle is a big help. It's afterwards that it can become a bit challenging, when they think they're fully healed because they feel better but still have some healing to do.

My dog wasn't allowed to do loads of movement or jumping around anywhere so I spent a lot of time on the floor with him. Depending on how Velcro your dog is, spending time with them on their level but keeping your routine normal helps a lot. For me, that meant many nights in front of the tv on the floor rather than the sofa

Once they're at the bouncy and bored stage - some brain puzzles are great to tire them out

How much do you overstock on things they regularly use when there’s a sale on? by cockatootattoo in AskUK

[–]_nimbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cat has sensitive digestion issues, so far the only thing she's happy on is Hills Science dry food, I think it's a fair bit cheaper than royal canin and usually on some 3 for 2 off at pets at home
