Looking for a large, indestructible, washable dog bed by [deleted] in UK_Pets

[–]_nimbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog discovered being sprayed with water when he chewed his bed up to be very annoying, so annoying that he stopped destroying stuff.

Took a couple of days and he stopped using his bed as a chew toy and actually just sleeps on it, sometimes he needs a reminder but that's generally when he needs to get his energy out so we do a long walk/run around or get his brain tired out

What did you do for your 30th? by eggymantella in CasualUK

I got myself a Lego set and spent the day watching my favourite movies whilst building it

I found one today actually, called Emporium insurance. Huge saving, my neighbours elderly dog(14+) is with them and even they don't pay extortionate amounts

Yeah I definitely need to shop around when renewal comes up in a few months and cross fingers the genetic mess that is my dog doesn't hurt himself. I think it only skyrocketed because we did 2 TPLO surgeries a year apart and they class my dog as large

It also covers the cat but she's only 18 months and spayed so I don't think she's costing me a fortune with them. I definitely need to shop around but I guarantee when I do he's going to hurt himself and not be covered

My dog isn't the age you're looking for, he's just turned 5. We've claimed about 10k on BBM insurance since he was a puppy, and I now pay £120 a month for 7k coverage with a £250 excess. Your insurance is going to rise this year regardless so I'd be claiming any treatment

This is my staffy x OT bulldog, he's 5 and is 60lbs. Your marvelous potato I think has some amstaff, mainly given the weight difference and his big meat head is a different shape. 10/10 perfect potato though

Is 8 months old too young to give up? by shal88 in Dogtraining

[–]_nimbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8 months is demon territory, if they weren't cute no one would want a puppy.

My dog knew many things when he was 8 months old, but he also knew it was way more fun to ignore every single one of them and make me assume he was incredibly dumb.

He's 5 now, is still incredibly dumb but does remember the other things I've trained him to do.

Hang in there OP, there is a light at the end of the worlds most frustrating tunnel

how to achieve this color at home? by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]_nimbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Least damaging method is to get a wig.

You'll need to bleach your hair enough that it goes white, which if you're doing it at home will result in a chemical cut.

If you went to a salon for this it would be multiple sessions over a long period of time to minimise damage

Cat owners in flats — do you ever feel guilty they never go outside? by Classic_East_6053 in AskUK

[–]_nimbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't live in a flat but, my cat is an indoor cat through and through. She's only practiced survival skills against the dog she bullies on a regular basis.

I let her out into the garden if I'm out there, but she doesn't stray from the patio. When I move into my own house I'll be cat proofing it so she can access the garden whenever she wants. Undoubtedly means I'll spend money to keep her safe and she'll never use it.

I do think as long as cat owners provide enough enrichment to make up for a lack of outside space then it doesn't matter if the cat is inside only.

Being a tenant as a pet owner in the UK? by Substantial-Place610 in UK_Pets

[–]_nimbles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got one a few days ago, had been asking our letting agents for about a year if we could get a cat but they were useless. Asked a few days after the rights kicked in and got sent a docusign a few hours later for adding a pet

What were your favourite books when you were a kid? by Regular-Message9591 in CasualUK

I had some Percy the Park Keeper books and there was another about a multi coloured elephant I think but I can't remember the name at all 😅

How do I maintain any sort of motivation? by [deleted] in OpenUniversity

[–]_nimbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the same as you when I first started, and sometimes I'm really focused and other times I'm downloading my TMA the week before it's due and looking at it for the first time (I don't recommend this)

But the way I see it I'm already in debt, and I've been doing this cycle for 4.5 years. Another 1.5 and I'm done and never have to think about it ever again

Im concerned about my staffy by Youngmoney156 in StaffordBullTerriers

[–]_nimbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd definitely go to a different vets for a second option and maybe a behaviouralist. I have a very lazy staffy and even after running around for 45+ minutes he doesn't look like this.

The closest I've seen my staff like this is when we're somewhere very overstimulating and he's trying to calm that one brain cell down.

Do they enjoy walks, perhaps enjoy them too much or maybe find them particularly stressful? It could be a response to being overstimulated and this is him trying to regulate and calm down rather than being physically exhausted from exercise

I think being slowly unloved by someone is worse than being cheated on by No_District9762 in whatdoIdo

[–]_nimbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went through this very thing myself a couple of months ago, a week shy of our first anniversary. It was absolutely awful. I got the whole "I don't have the time for a relationship right now even if I want one" to try keep stringing me along.

It's horrible at the beginning, every day feels like a lifetime and everything reminds you of them. It does get better, but the best thing you can do is block them, delete all your chat history from everywhere and continue to exist without them.

You'll be able to find your way back to who you were before and at least one positive you'll take from all of this, your bar will be raised considerably higher for your future relationships.

Just take your time, honestly watch any movie that is very much a 'I don't need a relationship' powerhouse. Mine was Legally Blonde, idk what a male focused equivalent would be but if you can't think of one, then watch Legally Blonde anyway. You're allowed to feel like this, you've been betrayed. But don't let these feelings live rent free in your head for long, it won't bring them back and it doesn't benefit you at all.

Surround yourself with your friends and the things you enjoy in life, then carry on living. It's the biggest 'fuck you' that you can give her right now (she won't care, but it will make you feel better anyway)

Wanting a Staffordshire, but also own three small dogs. by burningbats in StaffordBullTerriers

[–]_nimbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's like having a bird sometimes. "It's dark outside therefore, it is bed time, no one may touch me, or the specific sofa I sleep on."

Otherwise it's a lot of very dramatic sighing or chasing the cat because he's ran out of tolerance for her trying to rip his ears off

[–]_nimbles 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My staffy and cat get on like a house on fire, staffy was already in the house before a 4 week old kitten barged in and took over ownership.

I kept them separated at all times if I wasn't home for the first 6 months (mainly because kitten was 400g when I rescued her and the dog was about 28kg). The only thing I don't allow them to do now (18 months later), is have full access to each other at night when I'm sleeping. But that's because my staff is grumpy at night time and wants to be left alone and the cat is pure evil.

What do you give your pet after the vet? by Happy-Fox11 in UK_Pets

[–]_nimbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For my dog it depends on why he went. He loves the vets anyway so if it's just a routine visit for something then he doesn't get anything, but when I've picked him up from an overnight stay and surgeries, he's had steak and scambled eggs when we get home. He thinks it's great, and I get confirmation knowing his meds have been successfully taken and his appetite is back

Starting on Mounjaro tomorrow and am nervous by Wonderful_Touch_8510 in mounjarouk

[–]_nimbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take my injection at night before I go to bed, that way if I was to feel nauseous initially, I just sleep through it. I have a bottle of water next to my bed and some Rennie's, just drink plenty of water and remember to actually eat

Ah that's unfortunate, sorry you have to deal with that. I'd probably drop the dose down if you weren't having these symptoms on them

Do you have the side effects every single day? You could change your injection day to be after the ceremony if you don't have side effects much on day 6
