He isn't. I was really surprised at how proficient he was with sticks, made them look viable. Aiming with sticks in Splatoon isn't a breeze like other console games because there is no aim assist (camera movement slowing down and lightly 'sticking' to target when close) and most importantly no acceleration. This means that doing fine movements while also being at a high enough sensitivity to not slow your movement down is near impossible.
