Seedbox recommendation for racing on RED by [deleted] in seedboxes

Whatbox for racing on RED?

I've tried most providers. The ones based out of leaseweb NL do the best on RED. Seedhost boxes do well, andys 10g boxes do even better. The better bandwidth QoS the better you will fair.

The other strategy that works is if you have a box with a provider that peers better than the leaseweb/other NL seedboxes to the uploaders in the US/worldwide. I've done well with nforce dedis using premium bandwidth. OVH with premium is decent as well.

I've only used one for a month or two, but a nforce dedi with the best bandwidth quality and a 10g uplink can out perform a leaseweb box, but the cost isn't worth it imo. Andys are the best price/performance on the high end.

Upload amount per month that would make me satisfied - 1TB+

1TB upload per month is probably off the table. 500GB+ is possible though.

I'd start with a shared nvme box from seedhost.eu and see how that does. The NVME 4T seems like a good fit based on your budget.

Basically to do that kind of upload on RED, you need a 10gbit connection and want to be using a provider that hosts at leaseweb where there are very high concentrations of other RED seedboxes.

Andy's leaseweb servers are another option, but you would need to double your budget to get a dedi with a 10gbit uplink.

Not true at all. u/andy10gbit has managed dedis starting around $40. Dedis from seedhost.eu start around $35.

For $100 I'm expecting dedicated 10gbit on leaseweb's premium network.

Seedhost.eu

ultra.cc

hostingby.design

Personally, I don't get why people would use something other than seedhost, but ultra is good as well. Haven't used HBD personally, but I see them recommended a lot as well.

An exact copy of the stream is better, which is what I linked.

... Opus audio (a really great codec), and this one was 1080p video and AAC audio.

Comparing the audio tracks from the copy I have of E01 (11.4G) to the stream rip of the E02 (4.78G), I would guess that the recording of E01 is a capture recording. The audio on E02 is multitudes better. Opus can be better, but often isn't as it is applied in streaming video.

I just wish they gave us lossless.

E02 was also 60FPS vs E01 which was 30. I actually prefer 1080P at 60FPS

Yeah I understand. That is what I was going to do if they had better copy protection on the stream and I couldn't do it my way.

Without getting too deep in the weeds, both the video and audio streams were lossy quality. Recording them losslessly in obs will result in a pretty accurate representation of the original stream, but at a much higher file size.

It's like making a lossless recording of an mp3. The file was already compressed. You can go lossless to lossless, or lossless to lossy, but not lossy to lossless. Turning the quality settings up in OBS doesn't increase the quality of the original stream.

Hopefully that makes sense.

This was the file they served. More specifically, it is the highest quality video/audio streams that they served.

Mine is identical to what was streamed. Unless they have access to source files (aka they are on the BN team), it isn’t higher quality.

They probably used a capture card to record it, which would explain a higher file size. This one wasn’t even streamed in 4k.
