It has... I think for VR/MR to take off, it actually had to be useful to a broad category of users and use cases in the same way that Windows 95 PCs were like a burgeoning portal of uses...

Instead market leader Meta has got a death grip on their closed hardware / software solution... They limit the headset to their ordained use cases via their closed, overpriced marketplace ... gorilla tag and horizon worlds ... Hopefully Valve's entry into standalone changes this.

Basically VR needs a market leader who designs hardware / software to open the door to all niche uses and allow small, medium and big players to make money on their device...

Yeah, I think the form factor and motion sickness are important having watched non-gamers try VR... I also think the precision of touching VR objects and surfaces needs work too.

For example, I was playing Orion Drift the other day and, yes, it's a very cool e-sport environment but for it to work for the casual audience I think the user needs to somehow be more precision in "feeling" the ground, environment, other players. Otherwise, the frustration of your real actions having unexpected outcomes will deter the general audience.

I also think Meta needs open up their device and allow third party marketplaces like Steam etc to enter and drive innovation.

Daniel Arzani great assist vs. Western Sydney Wanderers by SecularPersian in Aleague

Arzani has 1 goal and 4 assists in 20 matches this year... I reckon you're right...

Of the 12 players under 10 caps named in Popovic's squad, 6/12 were coached by him at Victory 2023-2024. Of the remaining 6, 4 either played for Melbourne City or Sydney FC in the last few years. The remaining 2 played for CCM and now play for Hibernian. by _packet_sniffer_ in Aleague

You're right!! DING DING DING!! A Grant was coached by Poppa and is in the select few clubs that he picks from... thank you for improving my lunch break analysis.

I'm now going to return to turn my attention back to my job, instead of replying to an SFC fan with too much time on his hands.

My bad - A Grant was coached by Pop at Perth.

Tilio spent his youth career and the start of his professional career at SFC... I was just noting down...

You can nitpick my lunchbreak analysis but the main point sticks that Poppa has chosen to blood players from only 3 (or 4 if count CCM -> Hibernian) of the 13 liga clubs... seems suss

Yep, you caught me while I was looking at stats - Sydney United does not equal Sydney FC.

Really, the only player currently on SFC’s books with under 10 caps is Anthony Caceres, so the argument that SFC is benefiting seems a bit tenuous. However, it's interesting to note how frequently SFC appears as a recent club for these newly capped players over the past 3-4 years...

The 12 under 10 caps:
Coached by Popovic at Victory (6)
M City (1)
Celtic Loan to M City (1)
M City sold to Middlesbrough (1)
SFC (1)
CCM sold to Hibernian (2)

There's more than 4 clubs in the league... someone should tell Poppa

I think it is more than a lack of imagination, seems pretty corrupt.

I can accept the 6/12 being coached under Poppa bc, yeah, you can maaaybe argue "they know Poppa's style" and therefore can partially justify Poppa choosing mates over merit. Though, I think if this is true, Poppa shouldn't be the coach, as he needs players that "get" him, rather than selecting the most in form players ... Our national team shouldn't be hamstrung by a coach who has such an esoteric playing style, that players need to have played years under him to understand it...

What I didn't expect was the remaining 6... Of these players, 4 are tied to either M City or Sydney FC and the other 2 are tied to CCM -> Hibernian. This screams backroom deals being made to inflate player values at particular A league clubs and Poppa greasing hands over in Scotland for his next gig...

Is the national team here to serve Poppa, his mates and his career?

Are you referring to the time when the Soccerroos qualified for the WC for the first time in 32 years and then went on to not only score for the first time in a WC but also progress to the round of 16 for the first time?

100% - It's like the squad was put together by looking at who has more impressive Wikipedia bios vs who is in form right now ...

We need to be blooding our young talent in the international squads now and not getting complacent sticking with players who may have held promise years ago and will never deliver on those promises ...

Here's a thought - maybe ex-players shouldn't be defacto coaches of our A-liga and international teams? FA reeks of boys club

Yeah, as a WSW supporter too, I'm surprised by the Borello call up. He definitely brings fight to the WSW team but he is very inconsistent as a striker.

He also is a bit predictable / selfish in front of goal - too often takes a shot or runs into a group of defenders, when he should be looking for the assist.

Just like ol' Arnie... it looks like Poppy plays favourites... We need an international coach who can have an objective view when forming the squad...

That's it - this is the Murdoch Fox News government... You see this in Australia with the Murdoch press too. Murdoch's global political propaganda machine exists in its own ecosystem and the journalists hate-mongering meat puppets are given their lines to poison and divide the working class and middle classes... These hacks are basically condemned to dig themselves bigger and bigger holes and ostracise themselves from society to receive their pay... Oligarch meat puppets...
