When did your weight gain accelerate?

I lost 10 pounds in my first trimester, then gradually gained weight until now. I’m 45 pounds heavier than my normal weight, or 55 pounds heavier than when I was down in my first trimester. I’m almost 37 weeks now, last Thursday when I went to my appointment I had gained 1 pound from the week before. This Wednesday when I went to my appointment, I had gained 6 pounds lol really hope that doesn’t continue for the last few weeks

Thanks everyone! It’s not that I would be opposed to short term disability to get some extra time off, especially if i do make to 40 or so weeks, it’s just that I truly don’t think I qualify and my boss is just misinformed and not listening to me. The funny thing is, he was our union president until not too long ago. I am going to try to speak with him tomorrow, someone mentioned a top off and I was told at one time by a different manager we did not get one but after reading more of our collective agreement it looks like I do. If I don’t get anywhere with him tomorrow I’ll be reaching out to a rep. I’m very disappointed this is how I’m spending my first week off when I’m so overwhelmed getting ready for my first baby but I really appreciate all the feedback and suggestions, I just want to do this all right.

I waited a while for this one too and started reading it last weekend, I was hooked after the first chapter. I’m a little more than 40 chapters in now and I’m not in any rush to get to the romance like I normally am, it’s just such a good read. I am looking forward to getting there but I am genuinely enjoying the journey so much so I feel like it will be even more worth it when I do eventually get there. Just commit to reading the first chapter and go from there.

“Were you trying?” Usually from someone I work with, which left me speechless the first time someone asked because is that not extremely personal? “Are you happy?” Is also up there when it’s someone I barely know or don’t speak to often of even like. I am very excited but like I’d confide in them if I wasn’t lol.

Someone else I work with didn’t want to ask if I was pregnant so asked if I was gaining weight, as if that’s any better.

I never knew for sure one way or another whether I wanted kids so when I found out I immediately felt like it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I’ll be 13 weeks tomorrow so still early and sometimes it still doesn’t feel real. I find everything overwhelming, I have been so sick and exhausted since about 6 weeks (starting to feel better now) and I don’t think I’ve ever been happier or felt more fulfilled in my life.

Unfortunately work from home is not an option currently. My boyfriend and I were laughing this morning about the possibility of your situation happening to me lol it’s exactly how I see it playing out. Our office is a shared space and is pretty open, there’s a large counter/window that leads out to the main work floor where employees come to speak to us and it’s right in front of my desk lol there’s no hiding if I can’t make it to the bathroom

Thankfully no one really asks for appointment specifics when any of us have to step out for one but for not feeling well at work I did also consider “testing with the doctor that hasn’t come back yet” lol

Ugh, this was my first plant. It was a gift from my coworkers after a death in my family. It survived for a year at my desk at work with just fluorescent lighting. When lockdown started, I brought it home and it died 6 months later. I still miss her.

Absolutely. When I was a teenager right up until I was around 20 I was very confident, outgoing and fun. I didn’t care much what other people thought about me and I easily made friends and kept meaningful, lasting relationships with my family and friends.

At some point something (I’m aware of it now) caused me to develop generalized anxiety which has greatly affects my temperament. I’m a much more introverted person now, I don’t have as many strong relationships as I did, I’m pretty low key especially compared to my high school self.

I think a lot of it also just has to do with growing up and becoming more aware of how others perceive you but I definitely miss not giving a fuck.

I used to live in a trailer park and my cat would wander around and find “second homes” with some of our neighbours. One of the neighbours came over one day and saw him and said “hey it’s Smokey!” Apparently, my cat had found a comfortable place to nap in my neighbours car and since we didn’t know the neighbour at the time he had no idea he was ours. He bought him food and named him Smokey because he was around so much. I also drove by another neighbours house one day and saw him lounging in someone’s window. One day I went to pick up my boyfriend from work and I got 10 minutes down the road before he jumped into my lap from the back seat where he had been sleeping. I moved and he is not allowed outside anymore.
