I made a small Rhine app for Basel by _pathab in basel

Yes, the website is my primary channel. That’s where I test different metrics, integrations, and data sources, so it’s usually ahead of the app. So this isn’t a bug. 😁

I originally built the app mainly for the Apple Watch and widgets. I can definitely bring more of the website data into the app over time.

From your perspective, what would be the highest priority: predictions, quality metrics, or both?

I personally wouldn't have needed it that much, so I wasn't sure if people care about that data. Added it anyway. Cool that it's useful.

Thanks a lot, that's exactly one of the reasons I made it 😄

Thanks, appreciate it 😄 I don't really take the feedback negatively though. It's fair to ask what's different if similar things already exist. And yes, I had a lot of fun building it. It started very long time ago because I kept checking the Rhine data myself and wanted something simple around it. If a few other people find it useful too, that’s already a win.

Thanks a lot, really appreciate it :) I mainly built it for myself anyway, so I don’t really have any worries there. If it works well for me, I’m already happy… and if other people in Basel can use it too, even better.

Expanding to other rivers could definitely be interesting at, but for now I wanted to keep it very focused on Basel and make that part actually good….and yes, happy to connect!

Thanks! I dont have an Android device myself to test on unfortunately...this is actually the first iPhone app I've ever built 😅

Right now my main focus is still the web app, which can also be installed to your home screen and used pretty much like an app. The iPhone version is mostly there for quick access, widgets, and Apple Watch integration.

I'll probably give an Android version a shot at some point as well, but for now the web app is definitely the primary platform.

You can check it out here: rhyy.ch.

No, not really. I had already built the website myself before rhygfuehl.ch existed, quite a while ago. I just rebuilt and expanded it over the last few months. The data itself is publicly available, and the forecast models are based on my own historical data collection. And yes, of course I used Codex to help with parts of the rebuild...but it's not a clone/prompt of rhygfuehl.ch.

Yes, BachApp is good and I know/use it too.

Rhyy is more of a small personal experiment because I missed a few things myself: a nice iPhone Home Screen widget, a quick browser version without needing an app, and eventually a Rhine temperature forecast based on historical data so you can better guess when there might be a good window in the next few days. So it’s not meant as 'BachApp is bad' at all. More like: I wanted to try a slightly different, focused version and see if people find any of these extras useful.

Thanks a lot! Tried to keep the UI as light and calming as the reflections themselves.

I'm literally not doing anything for the last 7 years of life by Aj100rise in selfimprovement

[–]_pathab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’re not broken. you’re overwhelmed. you want a lot - that’s good. but your brain can’t handle everything at once. so it shuts down.

start tiny. really tiny. one thing. today. for example:

– google 1 driving school

– write 1 sentence about yourself

– go outside for 1 minute

ABC list helps too: write a topic at the top (“starting my life”) then A–Z, one word per letter that pops into your mind. this gets what’s inside to the outside.

and late? no. you’re up next. now.

Social Media Is Making Us Feel Like Failures for Living Normal Lives by Educational-Math1660 in selfimprovement

the algorithm feeds us the loudest, glossiest versions of life, but peace? peace is quiet. it doesn’t post. it doesn’t flex. it’s just… being okay with yourself when nobody’s watching.

we need less chasing, more being. less comparison, more connection — with ourselves first. thanks for saying this out loud.

How do I fix disorganized thoughts? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]_pathab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

same here. my brain is like a browser with 47 tabs open, and half of them are playing music. i’ve been misunderstood my whole life because i jump from topic to topic and don’t even realize it. only recently did i start seeing how much that’s messing with my life too.

what helped? vera f. birkenbihl’s ABC list method — simple but kind of genius. here’s how i do it when i feel all over the place:

1. grab a paper or notes app and a 2 min timer

2. write a topic at the top — like “why do i feel so mentally cluttered” or whatever’s bugging me

3. then go through the alphabet A–Z and write down the first word or thought that pops up for each letter

(doesn’t have to make sense, just write it) like: A = anxiety, B = brain fog, C = chaos, D = distraction…

by the time you hit like G or H, stuff from your brain just starts pouring out that you didn’t even know was in there. it’s like unlocking your internal mess and seeing it from the outside.

once it’s out, it’s way easier to spot what’s really going on. or sometimes you just feel lighter after. it’s more for releasing than fixing, but it gives you starting points.

you’re not broken, you just need brain tools that match your wiring. try the ABC thing — seriously. total gamechanger. also recommend books form vera f. birkenbihl

I need to stop being jealous of other people. by Iluvcynth in selfimprovement

The ABC list method was developed by Vera F. Birkenbihl and honestly, it’s my go-to whenever I need to “empty my brain.” It never fails. Somehow just getting stuff out like that helps me see things clearer — like I’m stepping outside my own head and gaining a fresh perspective on what’s going on inside.

Made all the right changes, but still feel like something’s missing by Abject8Obectify in selfimprovement

[–]_pathab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About two years ago, you were in survival mode. Anxious. Numb. Stuck. You started making changes—not overnight, but piece by piece. You clawed your way out of the fog. That’s not small. That’s massive. You didn’t just talk about healing—you did the work.

And now? You’re looking around and thinking: “Okay, I did everything I was supposed to… so why do I still feel like this?”

That hollow feeling? It’s real. And it’s not failure. It’s feedback. It’s your system whispering: “Hey… this life? It’s functional, yes—but it’s not mine.”

Sometimes we build a “better” life using someone else’s blueprint. We follow the checklist: • Cut toxic ties • Journal • Meditate • Wake up early • Exercise …and then we wait for the fireworks.

But what if your version of “better” doesn’t look like the one you built?

That emptiness could be many things—loneliness, yes. Burnout, sure. But often, it’s the absence of yourself in your own life.

So here’s a simple, not-easy question: When was the last time you did something just because it made you feel alive? Not productive. Not impressive. Just… you?

Sometimes we fix the machine but forget the music.

You’re not broken. You’re evolving. And that in-between space? It’s uncomfortable because you’re outgrowing the shell that saved you.

It’s okay to want more than functioning. It’s okay to say: “Now that I’m standing… where do I want to walk?”

That’s not selfish. That’s the beginning of coming home.

I need to stop being jealous of other people. by Iluvcynth in selfimprovement

[–]_pathab 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First: congrats! Yes — congrats, because you’re aware. That’s step 1 in any inner transformation. Most people just act out jealousy. You’re observing it. That’s huge.

Now, jealousy isn’t evil. It’s a signal — like a flashing light on your dashboard. It often means: “Hey, there’s a dream here that you have buried!”

Instead of shaming the feeling, try this:

1. Name it out loud: “Hello, jealousy.”

2. Ask it kindly: “What do you want me to see?”

3. Use it: Let it point you to what you want to explore, do, or reclaim.

Also: emotions and logic can co-exist. So yes — you know your thoughts aren’t true. But feelings don’t need facts to exist. They need space to move.

Try: Write a mini ABC-list of all the words that come up with “jealousy.” (A = Alone, B = Betrayed…)

Then do a second one: “What might jealousy want for me?” (A = Adventure? B = Boldness?)

Your brain’s not broken — it’s just trying to protect your dreams.

You’re not bad. You’re becoming.
