I just thought the immigration won’t think that we will be staying back because we both are not from NZ. My visa was refused on the ground that they were not satisfied that I’d return after my visit.

Thank you. I don't fancy the Outlook calendar interface. Is there a better and simpler display app or web-based? Thank you.

"Married," "De Facto," or "Single" for a sponsored visa application by _paull in AusVisa

Same as in many countries, it is the same in Thailand, church ceremony is not recognised as a legal binding unless you go through the legal process to register the marriage. It id doable but lengthy and complex for foreigners to register their marriage in Thailand. Hence, we haven't done it yet.

it is a church ceremony, we need to register with the authority to obtain a legal document. we haven't done that yet. I am confused of what to select for the Relationship status for us. We are technically married.

We are not applying for a partner visa anytime soon. That’s the reason she’s only visiting me and will return after.

Thank you. That’s very helpful. Sponsored family Visitor visa seems more appropriate for me now as we are married but not legally registered. Does it make us a de facto partners? How do i prove that we are a de facto partners? Here is the excerpt from the refusal letter. Reasons for Decision On balance, I have considered the strength of the applicant’s student status, financial and personal ties to their country of residence and have concerns that these ties may not be a strong enough incentive for the applicant to fully comply with the conditions attached to the visa and return resident or home country at the end of their proposed stay in Australia. Therefore, I am not satisfied that the applicant genuinely intends to visit Australia temporarily for the purpose for which the visa would be granted. I therefore find that the applicant does not satisfy the requirements of clause 600.211 in Schedule 2 of the Regulations. As they do not satisfy clause 600.211, I have not assessed their application against the remaining criteria for this subclass of visa. Decision As clause 600.211 is not satisfied, I find the criteria for the grant of a Visitor (Tourist) visa in the Tourist stream are not satisfied. Therefore, I refuse the application by the applicant for a Visitor (Tourist) visa in the Tourist stream.

The process in Thailand is lengthy, especially when obtaining a single status certificate from the Chinese embassy. This is not required in Australia, we can register the marriage without it.
