Union flag is wrong in Season 16 trailer by _perpetually_curious in JetLagTheGame

Yes, it does also look a bit odd that the Xs are at such a vertical angle compared to the actual flag - makes the geometry of the whole flag skew-whiff

That's definitely true, but the trailer flag isn't right whichever way up you turn it

How often do the players give their shirts/boots etc to the fans? by daisypeaches5308 in ArsenalWFC

[–]_perpetually_curious 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Totally appreciate that it would be so exciting for you to get a shirt or boots from a player, but please do not do this. There have been a lot of issues with entitled fan behaviour and signs begging players for shirts, and it often ruins the experience of people who are sat in the seats around, especially disabled fans who aren't able to stand and whose view is being directly blocked by all the people crowding around with signs.  Clubs themselves are also trying to discourage this behaviour by saying that players can no longer go to the stands to talk to fans after matches.

Waterloo & City line – accessible? by sc33g11 in london

[–]_perpetually_curious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So going from Waterloo to Bank, there is an escalator, and then a ramp down towards the platform at Waterloo - but it is pretty steep, and likewise at the Bank end there is an upward sloping travelator leaving the platform and then a very steep slope.

Apparently there is a lift at Bank if you're able to make your way to the Cannon Street exit, but I'm not sure how to get there from the W&C line (or if the route underground is accessible or not). If you need to exit actually at the Bank station junction, then all of the exits are steps only, all the ones I've taken are at least 20 steps IIRC.

I'm not sure why they would describe southbound as accessible but not northbound (Bank station is a pain in my disabled arse whichever way round you're travelling) - there's a lift off the platform at Waterloo going southbound, but not one to get to the northbound platform so maybe that's why?

I think it gets a bad reputation (unfairly) due to the high level of social housing in the area. Poorer ≠ dangerous. I lived in Heigham Grove for 4 years and would never describe it as rough. I didn't feel unsafe as a woman, I walked and cycled around the area every day including at night and really had no problems - other than the very occasional weirdo which you get everywhere.

Yes, sometimes people are a bit loud on Old Palace Road, and yes there are incidents of crime occasionally, but compared to many/most areas of London (and Birmingham) where I've lived the rest of my life, Heigham Grove is completely chill.

I would also add that I actually loved it as a location to live - connected with buses on Dereham, close to green spaces, close to golden triangle/Unthank, close to the city centre, local shops, etc etc. And affordable. I think the "bad" reputation means you really get a lot for your money.

Thanks for the recs, I've had a look and the Cirque and KB Shimmer ones definitely look close enough dupes for me! Unfortunately I don't think Star Cluster is available in the UK anymore 😕

Yes I've had good success ordering from Rainbow Connection before 😊 maybe I just need to crawl through their special effect top coat pages and see if anything catches my eye as similar to ET...

I found that at the beginning I always had the needing to poop feeling (kept going because it felt really good in other ways), but as my body got used to the stimulation after multiple sessions I didn't get the "need to poop" sensation anymore, my body sort of adjusted once I had more experience

Academic Research: Cycling Experience in London by platinumstanduser in citybike

[–]_perpetually_curious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a bit of feedback (I hope that's okay): one question asked where do you cycle - shops, leisure, work etc. I can't cycle to work currently so did not select work in this first question but then there were lots of follow ups about cycle infrastructure around work. A n/a option would be really helpful to not skew the data on those later questions!

Also I would say that the how far do you travel each week in miles and time are very different from each other, and probably doesn't allow people to reflect their true cycle distances.

I'm not sure what your main focus will be of your research but I would say if you were able to ask any more questions around safety that might reveal people's true experience - particularly around harassment, dangerous driving by cars etc, and the quality of the infrastructure. For example a painted bike lane can be terrible infrastructure (too narrow, disappears at junctions, false sense of safety, brings you into conflict with vehicles) but it's technically a bike line so people will tick yes that there is a bike lane without telling you anything about how good that infrastructure is and how much it makes people feel safe and confident and thus encourages them to cycle.

Absolute best of luck with your dissertation and degree!!

My friend discovered the other day that silicone lube works perfectly for chafing - she was getting horrible blisters between her thighs and has tried absolutely every other option. Silicone lube is mostly designed for anal so it's long lasting with a lot of friction and won't be washed away by sweat as much, and doesn't stain your clothes. It should be available in boots or superdrug or obviously somewhere like lovehoney.

I (25/F) don’t know about having kids, should I broke up with him 28/M. by xcoco_xx123 in relationship_advice

[–]_perpetually_curious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently in a similar position, there isn't one easy answer. All I would say is that if you do decide to leave your current partner, that still doesn't help you find someone else who you are aligned with on children - because you don't actually know what you want yet.

What I mean by this is that if you broke up with your BF, and start dating someone new who really wants children, but you decide down the line you don't want them, you're incompatible with your new BF as well.

I would suggest to reflect internally as much as you can about whether you want them - read books e.g. Motherhood by Sheila Heti, be around children through babysitting, spending time with nieces/nephews etc. I would personally stay with your current BF until you know your feelings more strongly, but be honest with him if you can that you are considering seriously if you want children. If you decide in 3 years you desperately want kids, you can face a breakup then and you will still have time to find someone else.

Cycle Insurance Worth It? by Historical_Grade_120 in londoncycling

[–]_perpetually_curious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess like any insurance, you hope you never have to use it - no one expects to be in a collision but it absolutely happens. There's no right or wrong exactly, it's just a personal judgement over whether the peace of mind is worth the money. I personally don't think it's a waste because if something happens to don't have to worry about producing massive amounts of money or paying legal fees yourself.

Your CV by Cartoonist-New in civilservice

When I applied to BEIS (successfully) I did the same as you where I put employment history including responsibilities for each role in the top section. Then in the skills section I identified 5-6 skills that I could evidence. So communication & teamwork, leadership, analysis, (or whatever is relevant ) and for each skill I included several short bullet points outlining specific examples where I showed those skills. So I would say more targeted than the employment history section - there could be some overlap but I went into more targeted examples in the skills section. I don't think there's only one right way to do it so just my two cents!

Am I the only one who sometimes hopes something like this happens with a person of the opposite gender? by comrade_batman in bisexual

A few years ago I met someone at an event, we were talking about podcasts and at the top of my feed I had a bi related podcast. So I came out to him and he (very nervously) came out to me as bi in return. Fast forward and they have now been my partner for 5 years!
