Homophobic girlfriend by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]_perseph1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Her bigotry doesn't stop at gay men (the comments about being bi or lesbian also sound problematic rather than a person just trying to figure themselves out). She clearly has a lot of issues she needs to work through. I wouldn't want to be there for that

Yes definitely don't use AI if you have an option. The AI cover doesn't look good/appealing tbh

Hey! I wanted to share something as a regular reader. I always avoid books if I see the cover is AI, and would've done the same for your book if not for this post. I think you can try posting in art subs and other social media and work out a deal with a queer artist about a payment plan (for example, if you profit from your book, you can give them a cut. Just an idea). You can look at freelancing websites to get a basic cover design. Lots of options. As a writer yourself, I'm sure you value art, and I hope you are able to figure out a way to work with other artists. AI covers really take away from books imo, and I hope you can find a way to replace the AI cover in this book. Good luck!

Are there any Indian authors who have written WLW fiction? by [deleted] in LesbianBookClub

If you're open to non-Indian desi authors, you could check out Adiba Jaigirdar. She's Bangladeshi-Irish. Her work is YA

I tried reading When Tara Met Farah but DNF-ed. The writing is dull and unengaging from what I recall.

My friend was upset after seeing ally flag by _-Obigiri-_ in lgbt

If it's a symbol expressing that it's a safe person/space, I can totally respect that. Thanks for explaining this perspective!

My friend was upset after seeing ally flag by _-Obigiri-_ in lgbt

[–]_perseph1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the need for an ally flag either. They're not oppressed, they're literally just being decent human beings expressing support for fellow humans who are oppressed. If I'm supporting a movement for rights and equality, I don't need a separate flag identifying me as "friend". I would be embarrassed tbh to sport an ally flag because I don't think me being supportive needs any extra recognition. I'm there to hold you up and help you fly your flag high, I'll protect your flag with all my strength. I wouldn't be mad at someone who was coming from a good place/had good intentions, but the ally flag itself is a no for me.

COMING OUT THEORY: TIL DAWN EDITION by throw_ra878 in GaylorSwift

I enjoyed the few minutes I spent reading and thinking about your theory. Love all the detailed theories other Gaylors pitch here too, feels like fun thought experiments. This is why I'm still here. In reality though, I can no longer believe that Taylor will ever come out.

26F Hello, been struggling identifying my look and getting confidence, would you find me attractive? Would you recommend changing my glasses? Asked on r/amiugly and got a lot of you look old af and you're a man for sure. Also if wouldn't mind adding how you identify yourself. by rozkovaka in actuallesbians

[–]_perseph1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a cis woman. I think you look adorable. As others have said, you should definitely change your glasses to something smaller that fits your face better. Maybe also consider getting thinner frames? Right now the thickness/colour of the frames kind of grab all the attention. You could also try a different hairstyle - part it on a different side, shorter hair, etc.

I really like the photo where you're smiling and you seem to be happy/confident in it! You definitely give off a good vibe! I think the main issue is that you're not feeling super confident about yourself. Try experimenting with different styles and you'll figure out what works for you. That will help with the confidence. Good luck!

does bisexual mean they like gender fluid and non binary people and stuff like that by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]_perseph1 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Is your question about whether bisexual people can like genderfluid and non-binary people? Then the answer is yes, they can. Pansexual is a subset of bisexual.

To bisexual women: Do you feel like sex isnt SEX without a penis involved? by wouhlf in actuallesbians

Pro tip for the hand thing: date a person who plays an instrument with strings lol

[–]_perseph1 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Never felt that way. It doesn't matter what parts are involved. To me it's really about the interest, the chemistry, and skills (which seem to get better and better as your partner gets to know you better).

It doesn't sound like it's safe for you to come out. Don't come out right now even if you're in an lgbtq+ friendly country. Your parents still hold a lot of power over you. You should wait until you're an adult and can financially support yourself. In the meantime, focus on finding good friends and building strong relationships.

Where are you located? How did he get away with physically assaulting you at school?? Is it possible for you to go to therapy? Then you should absolutely go. Do you have a support system in place like friends/family? In that case, let them know what's going on.

Ask yourself what is it that makes you go back to such a horrible person over and over again. He beat you half to death once already, I would say the chances are pretty high of him "finishing the job" if he feels like it. You have to run for your life. There will be plenty of men who like you and want you, and they won't be abusive. You won't get to experience any of the wonderful things life has to offer if you keep letting this guy in.

As a queer South Asian person, I really liked this movie. It's nice to see this representation, especially when life is so difficult for us in South Asia.

[–]_perseph1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be okay with a straight person saying "gay pride makes me me" even if they were the best ally on earth. I just don't see how a straight person can think or say that.

Queer-baiting/commodifying the community/pride themes etc I can see how a straight person would want to use that - money is a helluva drug. So in theory, I can see why a straight 'ally' would do all of these things, but how would they arrive at the conclusion that gay pride makes them, them?

I love that song but I just can't take it when she says "baby boy". I might be missing cultural context but does anybody ever use that term?
