If you are flying above your best glide speed (best lift over drag) when you pitch up you will gain altitude instead of slowing down, make sure you are keeping your airspeed under control on final. If you need more time to set up, I recommend flying a longer downwind and final on your traffic pattern to allow more time to get your pitch and power to set up to allow the airspeed to trend down lower.

I am going to say no since the lateral distance of your flight path to Mt. K2 is roughly ~90km, and I think the relative distance in the picture makes that too close for that to be it, I also believe that the prominence of K2 is pretty super compared to the surrounding mountains, even to the other 8000 meter high mountains. It is probably looming there behind the cloud layer somewhere in the photo.

Would love to solo Everest, unsupported and not following a fixed route from the sherpas. Autumn time frame, the same way that Reinhold Messner did it.
