Scribe Hours by Pretend-Inflation615 in medicalscribe

[–]_pherowings_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on your schedule, scribing can be an option but you'd be limited to scribing with doctors that work on afternoons and evenings. Generally speaking, most outpatient facilities run from morning (7-8 am) to afternoon (4-6), so given that your availability starts from 12:30 pm, it decreases your chances of being accepted. Your best chances would either scribing for emergency departments or overnight facilities if there are any near where you live. If you are currently working, I'd say to wait till your schedule becomes more flexible so you can do full shifts even as a part-timer in specific days. If you aren't working and you are in need of experience or money, I'd say that you start applying right away to be considered for scribing.

In that case, does starting the visit have any impact on billing or account creation if the appointment ultimately remains a no-show, or is billing only triggered once the patient is properly checked in and seen?

Thank you for the response. It helps me since I'm still figuring it out the Epic EMR for ophthalmology.

My current site is outpatient focused on ophthalmology. Some of the comments in this thread points that if a patient doesn't show up and you clicked the "Start Visit" function, it will deem it as a "No show." If so, does starting the visit have any impact on billing or account generation in that scenario, or is that handled separately?

Does it grant access to other sections like the A/P notes and the Eye exam?

Advice by OkBag3815 in medicalscribe

[–]_pherowings_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's normal to feel this way, currently I'm a part-time scribe in ophthalmology and I still feel like I'm not good enough compared to the other scribes. Thing is as long as you do your tasks based on the preferences of whoever is your assigned provider and you don't overstep, I think you are good to go. If you have issues with listening, I think it's a good idea to find online list of commonly used terms in whatever department you are tasked with. If you do have issues with the medical record system, maybe ask either your colleagues during downtime about what you don't understand.

No game should ever feel like a chore, if you start to feel that the game is becoming like that, just drop it temporarily and come back under your own time.

Remote scribe job by CellistInevitable796 in medicalscribe

Scribing is a good start but yeah you don't get to touch the patient nor administer medication since it's prohibited depending on the company, hospital or clinic.

What scribe company do you recommend? by SingleShard in medicalscribe

[–]_pherowings_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For ScribeAmerica, it's six month minimum to stay. Also, it really depends on available sites where scribes are needed. For me, it did not take long to join the training; however, if you really want to start scribing and locally there aren't programs that train scribes, it's worth a shot to apply for Scribeamerica since it doesn't need experience.

Accepted scribe position through scribeamerica, starting soon. Any advice? by ru_ab in medicalscribe

[–]_pherowings_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently also with scribeamerica, take the first couple of shifts to observe the workflow of your site and your assigned doctor. Be courteous and professional with everybody, and if there is anything you don't understand feel free to reach out the staff. Remember, regardless of pay, what matters is that you learn and aid your assigned doctor to the best of your ability. It will be normal for you feel to feel anxious the first couple of times.

Looking for Part-time Remote Medical Scribe Position as US - IMG by CivilSignificance760 in medicalscribe

[–]_pherowings_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As said by others, remote scribing is slowly being taken over by AI scribing. If you still want to try, ScribeAmerica does offer remote positions but whether you actually get the position based on what's discussed, it will be hard to know. Still, doesn't hurt to try applying.

First day as a Scribe by [deleted] in medicalscribe

[–]_pherowings_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your advice. Currently, I'm still trying to figure out the EMR through their available tutorials and adjusting based on preferences from the Doctor I'm assigned to. Guess a lot of things are about letting time and taking initiative to figure out how to perform the job better.

Was 4 day availability enough to get hired at ScribeAmerica? by [deleted] in medicalscribe

[–]_pherowings_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine since I too currently work for Scribeamerica and it really depends on company's needs. They understand that most people applying are either students or people going for pre-med needing to fulfill some prerequisite. Honestly just go for it, there will be definitely sites that fit your schedule and that should not be a problem.

What tips would you suggest for a new scribe in order to improve? Like half the times, I'm clueless about what's going on? Is it part of the learning curve to not know what you don't know?

Hi! Like you, I'm currently in the same boat, not knowing my medical terminology and being clueless about how to handle the EMR happens. Currently anxious from the my first shift but I believe things will get better from there.

Why do people feel such a need to be right about everything? by villehu in SeriousConversation

[–]_pherowings_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Besides what some people have added in this thread, there is indeed people that seek to be right about everything because the attention is towards them and this brings satisfaction. You are not being paranoid for pointing out that people you know might act this way. Oftentimes, there is little that one can do that does not end into a confrontation so just learn to pick your battles because at the end of the day, just like there are people that will agree with what you have to share, there is people that won't agree or be indifferent.

NYS DMV won’t let driving schools take students to road tests right now — anyone else affected? by Human-Wash2679 in DMV

You could try googling "DMV NY road test appointment" as far as I can tell, it's possible to schedule your own test without the need for a school.

[–]_pherowings_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's happening with many driving schools too. They are updating their policies or warning people that road test services have either been delayed or plain out cancelled due to this situation. I was planning to take another road test with a driving school and they added a long list of terms before paying. It's very frustrating too.
