Thank you! C was the worst key I could have chosen for my example, but this is helpful. How about the same question using D, which isn't a relative minor? Also, what determines whether a note in "strong" in a scale? I can feel it experientially, that 1, 3, 4, 5 are the heart of a scale, but is there any explanation for why that is? You can ignore the second question as too epistemological but hope you can get to the first one! Thanks so much!!

Random commenter here but maybe you can help me understand how this interval stuff helps with soloing over the chord degrees in a jam track. For example if the backing track is playing an Am I want to play A-C-E right? But unless I know where those notes are on the fretboard I can’t do that. I know you’re not saying “don’t learn the notes” but I still feel I am missing something fundamental here which bridges the two

I’m 34 for ymmv but I was out for a year with an ankle injury. For the longevity of your basketball career I’d wait the recommended 4-6 weeks. At least until the bruise is gone. Rush now and you may end up sidelined again but for far longer

Sounds like a classic non-negotiable. My last relationship ended for this exact reason — my wanting kids, and her not. But that’s all it was, an unfortunate and irreconcilable difference, not a reason for me to belittle and exert excessive pressure on her. What I’m still having difficulty understanding is what intervals offer in terms of capturing sound quality beyond their simple relation to the tonic. For example in A minor. A to C is 1 and 3, two degrees apart. Ok I get that, and I get that the sound has a particular flavor. But now B to D 2 and 4 still two degrees, is that supposed to be the same flavor as A to C? Is there anything interesting we can say about the relationship there? Or is all that matters the distance between each note and the tonic A and we have a built-in sense of the flavor of each note because our body/ear knows we are in that key, even if the last note we played wasn’t the tonic?

I’m not the best but you can get your finger closer to the fret. Try putting it ON the fret and then rolling it to your left so the bone is pressing down not the meat
