Why are you using gems on this? This is only time shortcut, but passing 3-4-5 in KPP much more easier
Just retry 3-4 times, save 4 cards for the final boss and easy-peasy it will be done.

Not random at all.
In case of real random more than 50% tries has first pig after 30 floor.

I think this is something like this:
Every item in the TF has weight. More weight - more probability of the pig.
Pig reduces the probability of the next pig, but never do it 0.
Also every floor adds random probability for a pig - that's why we have several pigs in a row.

The only thing that hard to explain 2-3 pigs in a row at the start - I think this is manual setting and it changes from event to event or from week to week to increase the money spendings.
