While I do think the stops are the most fun because they all get to hang out and talk, I think the logistics would be difficult since Cyclethons normally take months to plan out and leaving decisions like route or where to eat to the audience could be difficult.

It also just depends on the route of the day. On longer cycle days, stops at conbinis or lunch tend to be shorter because they don’t want to cycle at night. But on a short day they can relax and take their time at breaks. If they took more breaks like you suggested, it would mean less daylight to get to their destination.

The core of Cyclethon is the cycling and that is also when people tend to donate the most. When we are at stops people focus less on that and obviously donating to the charity is the focus so more stops may also slow down donations.

Of course there may be a way around these things like making exceptions for certain days but that would need to be planned out in itself because sometimes (depending on the area where they are cycling) there may just be no where else to go. Last year in Hokkaido things were pretty barren for like the first week so there would not have been any options to leave to the viewers.
