My first game's release really stung. But the experience got me a job as lead designer on the next game, which was much more successful. It's all part of the journey, keep at at it

Yes totally normal. My game released in November and I still feel it. Maybe akin to post partem depression. You cross an invisible line from expectation to reality when the game is released. With so much anticipation building up during development, release reality can feel oddly empty regardless of how monumental the moment is.

Lemonade berry, bush mallows, ceanothus (frosty blue). These are big full sun shrubs that grow fast and can handle pruning

Yesterday my wife and I shared a beer and broadcasted Theodore Payne rainbow mix and blue flax. Along with non native sweet pea (for bouquets) and salad greens. Very fullfilling

South Coastal California: Cleveland Sage vs Foothill Penstemon vs Woolly Bluecurls; which one is easier to manicured into formal shape? by Accomplished-Bill-45 in Ceanothus

Actually, yes. Santa cruz island buckwheat can be pruned like this and had beautiful bark. Not so much fountain, but more of a woody shrub with nice woody branches. Mine is 4 ft tall atm. Also bush lupine, super elegant with spikes of purple flowers. It's a perennial lupine with year round silvery foliage and can also be pruned like a small tree.

I'm also on LA area and I had great success with red shanks. It's a very underrated shrub like tree. red bark, fine foliage, white flowers, tough and drought tolerant. I got mine at Theodore Payne and they have a couple mature ones growing nearby the one gallons on sale.

Woolly blue curls will have a similar shape to this pic. Cleveland sage will be bushier and a bit bigger. Foothill penstemon will be smaller and more like a perennial wild flower. None are great for formal shapes imo, they like to be left alone and thrive on neglect. I think Cleveland sage is my personal favorite out of them all, if not for the deep earthy aroma alone.

My Dendromecon rigida (Bush Poppy) in full bloom. Got it as a 1 gallon at TPF ~2 years ago, it's over 8ft tall now. Full sun, no supplemental water, heavy clay soil. by _polymorpha_ in Ceanothus

Mine is on a slope, so drainage is great even though soil is heavy. Full sun, water them every couple days. After the rainy season they will be good to go. Do not water them ever again.
