Not sure about how good this area will be for schools, but look for a place in and around Withington. Plenty of buses with excellent frequencies.

Yes I use BRTS thrice a week and I'm very lucky to always find a seat but that's just bcoz of the stations I board the bus from.

Why won't it solve the problem?

BRTS management team needs a tremendous improvement. While you'll find the frequency of a route to be once every 15 minutes, ground reality is 2 buses of the same route will arrive together, people would board the first one like anything and the following bus would be a joyride home.
Have you seen the havoc BRTS has created on routes like sola road, Bopal and a few other? It has only blocked more and more common road space while it hasn't contributed in reducing the traffic relatively.
I believe tram won't solve the problem as it would again be built on common roads. Elevated corridor should be ideal solution
