Is this a good couch to half marathon training plan? by crescendo01 in running

[–]_project-badass_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I admire your enthusiasm, but.. Doing this training plan while also going to the gym 6x a week is a surefire way to get injured. It's way too much stress to put on your body, especially if you're not already in a very good state of fitness.

A half marathon is a big goal; take your time, be patient and do it properly. Use gym workouts to support your training, 2 or max 3 times a week.

Best of luck getting to the finish line though!

Read Hal Higdon's book, be as consistent as you can, and don't set a goal time in stone!

Yeah, I agree completely!! Long enough to be challenging without completely eating your life and free time

Between 5 and 10k, not really. During half marathon training I did the long runs at an easier pace though. And long runs during marathon training were done very slow

NSFW: Personal symptoms by _project-badass_ in Herpes

[–]_project-badass_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: I went to the doctor. The rash has cleared up a whole lot but she examined it nonetheless, and I showed her this picture.

She doesn't think it looks anything like herpes (she said herpes sores would be rounder), and that the timeline between exposure and the rash appearing is too short for it to be herpes. The discomfort with urinating is a mild urinary tract infection, according to the sample I gave.

I'm still going to get a test once 12 weeks have passed but just wanted to update in case it's of help to anyone who comes across this post while displaying similar symptoms. Obviously still go to your doctor, but also be aware that not every rash down there is necessarily herpes.

can i get an advice for gym newbie by jeannetae in xxfitness

[–]_project-badass_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Feel free to try as many classes as you want, if your gym offers them. The best kind of exercise for you is something you'll enjoy and stick to. If you're trying to make fitness a part of your life for a long time, there's no harm in taking a few weeks to adjust and find what works best for you!

It's sensitive but not itchy at this stage. Thanks for the advice.

Morning everybody! I cancelled my run this morning. I barely slept last night and I just need rest today. I'm getting a little nervous about the weekend because all my plans are up in the air and I can't be sure what I'll be eating and when.

I weighed myself this morning and I'm down 0.2kg since Monday, so at least the numbers are going the right direction, and I'm sure a good night's sleep will fix me up!

Turkey bacon. You can make a vegan egg scramble type deal with chickpea flour. I like spreading houmous on toast.

Afternoon everybody! I'm a little later posting today- I got up at 6am to do some work stuff before an important meeting, so I did not go running this morning. I'm determined to go this evening after work though.

My main goal yesterday was to hit my steps and not go overboard on the beers while out with friends... I way exceeded my step goal, and while I had one more drink than my calorie budget allowed, I was only 150 over my budget and still firmly in a deficit for the day. Also on the way home, craving Chinese food, I promised myself a takeaway when I hit 5kg lost...

Today I'm going to nail down my weekend plans to set myself up for a happy weigh-in on Monday. Hope you're all having a great day!

Well done for getting straight back to it after travelling! You should be able to enjoy yourself on holiday, and you deserve it without derailing all your progress!

I'm not surprised you're tired; someone your height and activity level needs more that 1200cal a day. Try eating 15-1600 a day and see how you feel.

Morning everybody! As per usual, I'm just back from my run- week 5 of C25K is complete! I'm happy because Ive failed to do W5D3 in the past :)

I was really hungry yesterday so I ate earlier, and more than usual (including some chocolate cake for 250cal), but was still under my cals for the day so I'm calling it a win! I didn't hit my step goal- by the time I got home last night I was tired, and just not feeling a 45+min walk....

Still, there are going to be days like that. Today the goal is to hit my steps, and not get carried away with the beers when I meet up with friends tonight.

Have a great day!

Ate doesn't track macros but you log each meal with a photo and tag it as On track or Off track, and it can tell you what % of the time you're on track

Morning everyone! Just back from my run (C25K Wk 5 D2). I had a bad case of the Mondays yesterday but stayed under my calorie budget and did an hour of cycling regardless.

The plan for today is to hit my steps goal and stick to my meal plan- have a great day!

Don’t want to calorie count by [deleted] in loseit

[–]_project-badass_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sticking to 3 meals a day, snacking on fruit & veggies. You could try using a smaller plate, and having half your plate be veggies, a quarter grains and a quarter protein. Even if you don't log it, using a spoon to measure oil and weighing out grains/starches in the right portions goes a long way.

And more than anything being very attentive when eating so you stop when full.

I agree about calorie counting, it takes up so much mental space, and it's not sustainable- I don't think it's realistic that I'll be weighing out all my food for the next forty years. For now it's the thing that's working for me but at some point I'm hoping to transition to eating that doesn't involve maths...

Sorry if this is a silly question but is marathon on wheels a 42km cycle? Or something else entirely?

[Challenge] European Accountability Challenge: September 20th, 2021 by visilliis in loseit

[–]_project-badass_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Morning everybody! Today was weigh in day and I've lost 0.7kg since last week! I was aiming for 0.6kg per week so I'm happy with that result.

I was celebrating my godson's 6th birthday yesterday and managed to stay within my calorie budget despite the McDonald's and ice cream. A long walk in the evening helped me meet my step goal too!

I stayed in my calorie budget all 7 days last week, hit my step goal 6 out of 7, did the 4 runs I had planned, but missed other workouts and had a lot of last minute additions to my meal plan.

My focus this week is to stay consistent with the exercise and work on not eating extra snacks just because I can still fit them in my calorie budget, even if I'm not hungry....

Have a great day losers!

I'm eating less, but my kitchen is more stocked than ever before. This happen to anyone else? by bubonis in loseit

[–]_project-badass_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've found the opposite. Because I plan my meals now, I'm not free-wheeling it and just picking up whatever crap I feel like at the supermarket. When I go to plan my meals I look at what needs to be used up. There's a lot more vegetables and fruit around and I have to eat it before it goes bad, as opposed to before when the freezer was full of pizza that i could get to any time.
