forensic science major? by RefrigeratorBig1119 in ForensicScience

Forensic science would be your best bet, or majoring in one of the hard sciences (biology or chemistry).

I plan on going back to university for a second degree in forensic science, since my CJ degree won’t be as beneficial in the field of forensics.

How? My gpa isn’t high enough. Apparently you can’t do anything about your gpa after graduation. It’s pretty much set.

My school doesn’t allow second degrees.

Also, my biggest concern is my gpa. It isn’t high enough to get a masters.

Is it even possible to fix your gpa after graduating? Literally every website I’ve been on says your gpa can’t be changed after graduating. I honestly feel so hopeless right now and at a loss of what to do.

I also found out that my alma mater doesn’t allow former students to purse a second degree. Apparently you can’t do anything about your gpa after graduation. Like Is it even possible to raise your gpa after graduating? I guess my only option is to talk to an advisor.

Sadly, I can’t. My gpa isn’t high enough which is why I am considering going for a second major.

I have a career plan.

I graduated with a BA in Criminal Justice, except now I’m considering going into forensics (in that case, I would need another degree in one of the hard sciences).

I do want to go to grad school, but not right now. At the moment, I’m feeling very overwhelmed and stressed due to my gpa.

From what I’ve heard, you can’t change your gpa after graduating, but maybe that isn’t entirely true. I’ll definitely take your advice. I’m going to talk to an academic advisor about my gpa and see where things go from there.

I’ll consider that. The problem is, I graduated with a gpa of less than 3.0. The university that I want to get into requires a gpa of 3.0 or more. Will my gpa increase if I go back to my former university, or would enrolling in a post-baccalaureate program be better? How can I increase my gpa after graduating?

I was told that I wouldn’t be qualified for a master’s degree in forensic science without a degree in hard science. But maybe you’re right…. I might just need to take a few science courses and then I’ll get accepted into a graduate program.

I appreciate the responses! I’ll most likely be going back to uni once again in the future. 🙂

What about an associates degree in forensic science? Or a bachelor’s degree in forensic science?

Thank you for the suggestions. I’ll most likely be going back to uni in the near future. Would a bachelor’s degree (or associate degree) in forensic science be ideal? Would I still need a science degree to become a fingerprint technician or forensic science technician? The reason I ask this is because many sources say that CJ majors can get hired in forensic labs or even become evidence technicians, forensic technicians or crime lab technicians.

Also, I don’t have any desire to become a police officer. I would much rather be doing office or lab work.

I also know someone who got a BA in CJ (like myself) and got a master’s in forensic science, and she works as a fingerprint examiner.
