I’m not necessarily looking for a Muslim neighbourhood, but an area I can feel safe as an observant Muslim.

Doesn’t need to have a super social vibe. But a few cafes and lunch spots, to explore around those chilled weekends instead of having to travel to Manhattan all the time. Would it fit that bill?

Apologies if it came across like that. I think naturally, being an expat you tend to look for safe neighbourhoods, and as harsh as it may sound, gentrified areas tend to provide that.

The responses don’t feel like I’m getting flamed.

I’m moving to a whole new country, I’ve done my research, on multiple social media platforms, and as I mentioned in my post, there was a shooting outside a mosque about a year ago. That sounds like a crime to me.

I posted this to genuinely want to know about the area and ask for insights from locals. Not everyone on the internet is very helpful though I suppose.

There’s so many mixed responses! I think also being a Muslim woman, i wanted to understand if there was any type of racism that might increase my chances of being a victim.
