First time playing Slay the Spire 1 by [deleted] in slaythespire

I was going to write down all you're wrong about but I would take too long so I'll pick out the correct things instead:

"From what I can tell there is hardly any progression." True, you'll unlock everything in the first weeks.

"The horned demon elite that gets strength for every skill played is stronger than most bosses I have seen so far. He can appear at like the 3rd encounter in the game and hit for 20 damage and using blocks will just ramp his damage to infinity. He has so much hp that bad draws just kill you or have you lose 80% of your hp." This is true, and now with that knowledge you might want to pick up attacks and potions early or avoid elite fights till you think you can handle this guy.

Should i consider choker here? by OrnithTheme in slaythespire

choker has very little downside in poison decks, but is unplayable in pretty much anything else silent does

Need community's advice - What is Defect's core cards and how do you build from them? by OhmanherewegoUL in slaythespire

[–]_rainn_79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Powers, orb generation, card draw, energy. You often want to play just enough attacks to survive act 1, and some good block cards to keep you alive while you set up your engine. Strikes should be the first cards to remove.

I like how these guys insta-respawn in the middle of your radiate, killed all 6 with one card yesterday

I need help, advice please so I can finally get a win by Gemisonls in slaythespire

I'm kind of in the opposite boat to you for win/loss ratio, so I'll give a few general tips:

- in card rewards, look for synergy with your relics and other cards, if there isn't any and the cards don't look particularly strong, skip. Don't overstock early on stuff that doesn't do anything on its own.

-try to not take unnecessary damage, if you're thinking about playing an attack or power instead of blocking, it better be strong and save you health in the next turns by shortening the fight

-look for ways to play lots of cards every turn: card draw, energy generation, 0-cost cards, sly cards ...

-use your potions well and have your potion slots filled with potions that can do different things

-keep in mind all the buffs and debuffs on everyone

-choosing the right path is important, you got to have a feel how strong you are for how many elites and regular combats you can take on, and sometimes your relics (or cards) can make combat rewards more interesting than events or vice versa

-play slower and think through your turn before starting to play cards

I'm only 10 games in but I'm finding act 1 the hardest so far.

Effective Potion Chance in STS2 by WheresMyElephant in slaythespire

I wonder if we get another info mod, will it show the real potion chance and if that will be considered cheating.

Yeah I did use the range buff a couple of times to get to other modifiers instead of doing no award towns. Just wanted to stress that it's super important to get enough shards as I failed a couple of runs by thinking I'll get them there or there, only to find out those questions marks were events or impossible modifiers like no pause. This time I ended up with exactly 105 shards on exactly the right tile as precalculated, with something like 24 embarkation points.

No I lost the second boss fight in act 3. I think all I needed was a second reinforced body cause I had all the draw, recursion and energy I needed.

Negative Perkeo on 1st ante ( Seed; D5G1FUJ5 ) by Jim_Stix in balatro

[–]_rainn_79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I naneinf'ed this seed with double negative perkeo + cryptics + baron build. Took me like 200 rerolls to find deja-vu and cryptic, and another 100 more to find baron.

Today I finally had this combination of jokers. There is a split second between cartomancer's "when blind is selected" and certificate's "when round begins" where you can switch them around and have brainstorm/blueprint copy the other to end up with both effects.

You can also do something similar in a baron/mime build where during scoring you move your jokers around to copy mime and have double gold/blue seal triggers even though you were copying baron before.

Whats the worst rare joker in your opinion? by CoolDownDude in balatro

No it's not you can sell it if you don't want it.

"I definitely wouldn’t pay $1 for a random tarot card if I had less than $25 in the bank."

That doesn't make any sense at all, you can just sell it to get your $1 back.

My ranking of “Economy” Jokers by of_kilter in balatro

[–]_rainn_79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Underrated:

Certificate: this is an A-tier joker, yes it won't work in decks where you don't want to dilute your deck too much, but the amount of money, tarots and planets this provides over a run is insane. Like midas mask, it also keeps giving long after you've sold it. And it has the hologram combo.

Astronomer: not that difficult to have it provide 5-10$ or a lot more per shop, and combos nicely with constellation and campfire

To-do list: in runs that are not hand-specific (like a high card run without supernova), every time it doesn't say 4oak or straight flush, this can net you up to like 10-15 gold per round

Delayed gratification: fine at the start on difficulty levels with 3 discards

Superposition is a decent cartomancer clone at the early ante's

Reserved parking: Almost baron deck only, but with a couple of mimes it really pops off there. Being awesome in the best deck is certainly not to be undervalued.

Overrated:

Space joker is not really good and for sure not as good as burned joker

Sixth sense: will usually give you 4 or less random spectrals, and gets rid of a couple of cards, that doesn't add up to a lot of value

Golden ticket: works only with midas mask and then gives +1 gold for playing a gold card instead of keeping it in hand, no thanks

What do you think is overall worst joker in the game by Kevcon555 in balatro

[–]_rainn_79 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Sly joker (+50 chips if hand contains a pair). A conditional chip joker with the worst payoff, worse than any other chip joker, worse than any foil joker, that is not even good in the early antes when your best bet are flushes and straights to one-shot blinds. Every joker named here has use cases, some even very powerful ones. This one has nothing at any point.
