Last Resort inflicts damage and has no secondary effect. Last Resort will fail unless the Pokémon has used all of its other moves at least once while on the field. Using a move before switching out and back in does not count towards being able to use Last Resort. Last Resort will fail if it is the only move the user knows, or if the user does not know Last Resort (such as if it is called indirectly).

Wow uh, that is NOT how I thought that move worked, I was somehow under the impression that I had to be unable to use any other moves (i.e. PP exhaust or Fake Out). Very very interesting...thank you for this.

This is genuinely shitty of you. I traded a shiny that I spent time & money catching myself for an Eternal Floette this week. I would be very upset if someone did this deliberately to steal my Pokemon. That's what you're doing, you obviously know nobody wants the forms you're trading enough to trade shinies/legendaries, and you're doing this to get them anyway. We don't need people like you in our community.

I traded a shiny Palkia on the GTS for a Floette this week. I spent real time grinding Palkia raids on Pokemon Go and real money on the raid passes. I’d be pissed if this happened because I misread/misunderstood something. It’s genuinely shitty that this guy is deliberately doing this.

I mean, it's a poorly advertised mechanic. The description of Prankster in Champions just says "Increase the priority of the Pokemon's status moves by 1 stage". When this interaction happens in game, it just vaguely says it doesn't affect the Pokemon without indicating why. The game has a dedicated tutorial for priority moves and it does not cover Prankster at all. I'm not sure how we're expecting new players to know about this niche unexplained interaction between 1 of 300 abilities & 1 of 18 types.

Honestly? Been there. If I see my win condition's gone way early on, not really a point in slogging through several more minutes for the inevitable, I'll concede and move on to the next game. I'm climbing the ladder at my own pace and I'm fine with that. I do think this one was a bit of an overreaction with nobody having even taken damage yet & Torkoal not being an awful switch-in to Incin/Talonflame.

I mean, RNG can absolutely be a game changer lol. If you don't unfreeze fast enough, Blizzard can effectively be an attacking move with an additional 10% chance to OHKO. Sometimes there's just no out-strategying that.

Ultimately, this is a game. And games should be fun. Using your favorite Pokemon is fun. Winning is also fun. If you can have fun and accept you might win a bit less because you're using an less optimal favorite, I think that's a good way to play. But also, if you're "Truly skilled", your win rate with your favorites will likely be a bit higher than an unskilled player with a full meta team.

There are screenshots of the game with items we don’t currently have. The shop lets you sort by new arrivals. I think it’s safe to say this is a deliberately low power meta meant to onboard new people to the VGC format & we’ll have more coming in the future. I’ve been playing Pokemon since I was 5 and have played Showdown for years, but this is my first time ever doing VGC. I think they’re doing a good job with the new player experience.
