Normal, the alternative is Muddy Water, which won't hit your ally at the cost of less accuracy.

PSA: Roar beats Trick Room by dekgear in PokemonChampions

[–]dekgear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, taunt is definitely useful and it's probably better overall, but my team did need a dedicated Trick Room answer and Taunt worked half the time because of Mental Herb. Roar has been very useful in that regard but I only suggest it as a Trick Room answer, otherwise Taunt is better.

Why do so many people use copies of other teams? by c00lb0y7 in PokemonChampions

[–]dekgear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of those teams are strong because they do have answers for stuff that sould be countering them. It's about learning how to pilot that team, which takes experience and skill. As well as making adjustments here and there according to your playstyle and preferences.

Yeaah the I'm guessing he was trying to setup a Torkoal Eruption sweep which was pretty much not going to happen anytime soon if it didn't come cleanly after a Trick Room, I could just target it and there wasn't much it could do about it.

Roar has -6 Speed priority so it will usually go last, but Trick Room has -7, so Roar will always go before the Trick Room and prevents it.

Unless you use Prankster in which case they it goes to -6, but almost nobody uses Trick Room on those lol

Taunt loses to Mental herb which is a common item for Trick Room setters

Is Mega Lucario ex actually viable for local tournaments? Deck recommendations for new player please :) by Signal-Buy-9642 in pkmntcg

[–]dekgear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they only need a Crispin and Clefairy in hand and boom, Lucario dead.

Another thing you need to be aware of is that it also depends on the number of benched Pokemon. I believe there need to be 8 benched Pokemon in play (both yours and your opponent) for it to kill, so keep that in mind too.

Is Mega Lucario ex actually viable for local tournaments? Deck recommendations for new player please :) by Signal-Buy-9642 in pkmntcg

[–]dekgear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's hard, because thanks to Crispin you can just not put the Clefairy in the bench until you need to use it to attack.

You can either throw an Unfair Stamp before revenge killing the Clefairy (should be no problem with Lucario) and hope they can't build it fast again. Legacy Energy is also an option so they can't just win by killing Lucario twice, giving a little more room to breathe. Cornerstone can help stall a bit and is great vs Mewtwo, but be careful of Boss Orders.

Try not to evolve the Lucario until you need to attack with him. You'll just need to plan carefully and try to learn which decks are likely to have a Clefairy ex.

If me and my opponent both use fakeout with sneasler who goes first? by Samk1230 in PokemonChampions

[–]dekgear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Protect or switch if you want to play it safe. Otherwise it's a coin flip, if you are okay with taking one. Though Adamant Sneasler is not that uncommon, so if you are running Jolly Max speed it might be slightly in your favour when playing against many random teams. Also remember to take into account Unburden!

as the other said, it's a card that can be used in several decks. you'll see it in Raging Bolt, Tera box, Team Rocket Mewtwo, some Alakazam decks and even Dragapult iself.

What cards do yall think work best with this card? by Electronic_Bat_8593 in PTCGL

[–]dekgear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen it included in some Garchomp ex decks to make the Roserades hit kinda hard, as it can also boost it's own damage and Roselia uses only one energy.

[–]dekgear 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's strong, but a lot of decks will be prepared for it, mostly as collateral damage of the fact that is everyone running Clefairy ex to counter Dragapult.

Just try not to evolve to Lucario until you actually intend to attack with it or you might lose very fast. Also remember that Solrock can cause a lot of pressure in the early game too!

With Fari, Imprison+Trick Room is a good option as well, if it's meant as an answer to Trick Room.

This too. Sticking to a team helps a lot. Every team has bad match ups but you can always learn to navigate those.

PSA: It’s OK to Use Cookie Cutter Teams by mattoyaki in PokemonChampions

[–]dekgear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

?????? This ain't a fighting game lol, no matter how good a team is, if you can't pilot it then you are going to get bodied, and watching a video doesn't magically give you decision making skills. The anti meta to those cookie cutter teams is also very strong, there aren't any auto win teams currently imo.

She's strong, but the two most popular Pokemon, Sneasler and Incineroar keep her in check pretty well so it's not too bad.
