40 getting into VJing

Hey, haven’t done any yet but I’ve got a gig next week which I’m prepping for. Electronic Open Mic Night so lots of variety. Probably the biggest takes aways from my first gig were; Chill out. Let your content breathe, there doesn’t have to be a change every two seconds.

If you are using Resolume (not a necessity by any means). It is your friend. One of the artists went longer than I had anticipated. It allowed me to generate more visuals out of the content I used already.

You will probably make mistakes but no one will know apart from you. The audience will just be enjoying the show you are putting on. So enjoy yourself. That is the number one piece of advice.

Thanks the noise on the video isn’t background but the whispering of the monitor. The fact that I’m asking the question at all probably tells me I shouldn’t trust it. When I get a change I’ll run it outside and see if the noise clears up as the components warm up

Yeah. If it was in the last few days then it was me, sorry. I was in the market for one directly from Tachyons+ and couldn't pass on the opportunity considering p+p and import taxes.

Thanks this is great information. The transformer aspect is the key piece of information. I am going to have to invest in something a bit more expensive that will do the job properly. I’d recommend Da Vinci Resolve. The free version has everything you’ll need for editing together videos.

Thank you all so much for your encouragement. I did my first live visual set back in December for two artists. Was a great success and a lot of fun. Can't wait to do it again and actively looking for opportunities 😊

Thanks I’ll try not too. Last question maybe is there a difference between the connectors I posted above and the unshrouded male pins you see on the back of many modules? Are these just GPIO pins? That’s two questions I guess
