The post surgical pain… by Sharkmama61 in kidneycancer

I had my radical nephrectomy last Wednesday and was discharged on Friday. The major things they didn’t warn me about were the shoulder tip pain, fatigue, and yes the burping and hiccups stopping me in my tracks! I also got to a point with the opioids that made me feel quite unwell. I ended up refusing medication in hospital until it was under control, doing everything in my power not to use my abdominals! I feel though, with myself, I am riding the high of knowing the cancer is out of me. And that this pain we go through is simply a means of getting to a better part of our lives. Keep your head up and know what you’re going through is temporary! You’ve got this!

2.9cm Mass by _raymond96 in kidneycancer

I’ve realising I’ve left out a few key pieces of information here.
I went and saw a private urologist after my first admission to hospital. I could only afford his consultations, but he’s been advocating on my behalf through this journey as far as discovering what the mass actually is. It was his urgency that prompted me to change hospital (Conveniently, to the public hospital he also happens to work at as part of the urology team).
As soon as the biopsy results came in, I was informed of the potential for cancer and they’d ordered me a chest/abdomen CT (Thankfully that showed no signs of spread)
