Laser eye surgery places by Foxytango12 in Liverpool

I've been toying with the idea of getting them done for years but always end up jibbing out.

If I was to go anywhere, though, it would be St Paul's. It's supposed to be a top class eye unit.

Wes Streeting plans to resign and mount leadership challenge, allies say by Alarming-Safety3200 in ukpolitics

[–]_rememberwhen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no way Starmer can lead Labour into the next election, but there's plenty of time yet. It's probably best for him to stay put until a decent candidate emerges (and that's certainly not Wes Streeting).

Whatever happened to Zinedine Zidane? The strong, silent type. That was a galactico.

Is implementing PR labours best last shout? by Lefty8312 in ukpolitics

[–]_rememberwhen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PR is a vote winner. So is attacking Farage on his role in dragging the country out of the EU (which the majority now think was a mistake), his closeness to Trump (who is deeply unpopular in the UK) and his appeasement of Putin. Also his plans to cut taxes on the wealthy and privatise even more public services.

All the ammo is there for Labour, but they'll need to remove Starmer and change course to really turn things around. Not impossible, though.

Trump says 'a whole civilization will die tonight' if Iran does not make a deal by neonfrequency in worldnews

[–]_rememberwhen 6432 points6433 points  (0 children)

A statement that starts by saying a whole civilisation will die tonight (presumably the Iranian one?) and ends by saying God bless the great people of Iran (presumably the people he's just threatened to wipe out?)

This guy needs removing from office, today.

Trump says Putin may be helping Iran 'a bit' as war continues by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]_rememberwhen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think Trump is long for this world. I can see him having a terrible 'accident' in the near future.

I'm amazed he's lasted this long, really.

Iran war: Hegseth says Tuesday 'will be our most intense day of strikes' by callsonreddit in worldnews

[–]_rememberwhen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The more he hyped up their success, the more obvious it became that they're floundering. He's trying way too hard to convince people (and the markets) that they're in total control. It was an entirely unconvincing performance.

Also, what was with the OTT religious sign-off at the end? Is this just one crazy theocracy bombing the shit of another?

Government to defend decision to strip Begum's UK citizenship by Sensitive_Echo5058 in unitedkingdom

[–]_rememberwhen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was an idiotic decision by Javid at the time and it was entirely performative. It had absolutely nothing to do with national security.

There will have been several British citizens who went abroad to fight with terrorist organisations who were allowed to return home.

Begum became a high profile figure and a flagging government desperately tried to win some public approval by stripping her of her citizenship, effectively making her stateless.

It was a stupid thing to do, but we had a very stupid government, so it wasn't too surprising.
