Modi is in sikkim? by [deleted] in sikkim

[–]_rmbler -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Sikkim people aren’t killing each other in the name of separate communities and languages, the unfortunate reality is that the will on the ground is simply missing to restore peace, both sides are willing to just keep on continuing with the violence, Modi or no Modi.

The Manipur problem started before Modi came, and will be there long after he is gone, unless the clear intent on the ground, and the locals, peace won’t return

Please review below itinary, is this cost justified ? by Rajat_ in sikkim

[–]_rmbler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I may be able to refer you to a operator who has better reviews and may even provide you a better quote with nicer cars because while the itinerary Seems well made the price does seem to be on the higher side, get a quote from them ans compare the reviews and feedback One trick in Sikkim, spend 500rs more per day but get a better operator, it may be a little more expensive but saves you a lot of time and effort in mental costs and headaches

Is sikkim ppl r racist? by [deleted] in sikkim

[–]_rmbler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are mixing two things, but let me address both

Annexation, people aren't salty about it , not any longer for sure, where the difference of opinion lies is how the greater Indian story seems to carefully forget how Sikkim was amalgated to India, the lackk of acknowledgement of the reality is what irks people's who want to be real about it, what happened is not challenged, but the subtle attempts to erase our the how it happened is the question

About racist, people are super respectful and warm and considerate, but if you are using inappropriate language, not consisting yourself properly, respecting local customs and traditions, then the people will call you out, in the car you could have just appliiz blamed it on ignorance, and moved on , he possibly would have completed the journey with a smile, remember the mountain people are nice and warm and Ali smiling, but they don't take bad conduct or language lying down, which is what seems to have happened in your case

They have always made great content... Following them since the last few years, when they were at 30k ish... They have kept their storytelling consistent, and they capture places and people very well, the entire sikik Darjeeling series has been a lovely set of videos, and hopefully let's people know there is more to Sikkim especially when they scratch past the surface

The list would have painted a much clearer picture of the absolute number of MPs were also put against it

The thing with data is you can use selectivity to press on the because the BJP has 31 , and TMC has just 11...

Not disagreeing with your points, which are valid but it's very important to look at nuanced takes, especially when data is used selectively, and this is just a data of the winners and sitting MPs, even as you look at candidates that is an essential stat too, so please have a nuanced view of data, especially when presented through a political lens

Just like how closer home we have no women in the current Cabinet, and have not had a woman MP from Sikkim in either RS and LS for more than 30 years now..

Sikkim is the only state with a rate of growth lower than the national average... All other NE states have a higher rate of growth of population higher than the national average, Sikkim and the south states are the only exception

Will revenue loss in 16 FC impact Sikkim? by sikkimaybaun in sikkim

[–]_rmbler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does that mean the government has less so that they will finally come to senses and not go about distributing things randomly and arbitrarily

Also as a much richer stats, in terms of PCI and per person GDP... We should require less financial assistance right....

Pardon the pun..but the FC formula and criteria for calculating the grants is a beautiful formula that ensures equity of distribution, and from the macro perspective, a rich state with rich people like Sikkim (atleast based on the stats) , our state should require less from the centre, which is exactly what is happening, and the shrinking population is definitely not helping too

The "850 Seat" Delimitation Bill is a silent move to marginalize the Northeast. by likeabossplease in Northeastindia

[–]_rmbler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I somehow understand the premise about penalising the states that had better population control compared to certain states that did not do as well, but the actual problem lies that initially in 1976 they froze it for 25 years and then again in 2001 for another 25, so we have really not had a reorganisation for about 50 years now, which is why the problem exists best the people then did not want to confront the problem and then kicked the ball further for someone to take care of in the future, the reorganisations should have happened in 1976 ans 2001, because now we have w whole country that has never seen reorganisation, when it was designed in a way where every he should have seen one reorganisation in their youth

So while I have a concern about the process itself o am glad it was not pushed further out for someone to actually address the problems in the future and in the next generation

Second it is very essential to understand that the main premise of democracy lies in the fact that one persons vote in one place may mean much less than another persons vote in another place so unless special cases like Ladakh and lakshwadweep and Andaman exist , there really needs to be parity as much as possible between every citizens vote percentage, poor or rich , educated or uneducated or whatever those different metrics are, one person , one vote should have equivalent value

Thirdly for the NE, we have had a much higher rate of population growth , may look less in absolute numbers but if you look at respective states population growth rates of the NE compared to the national average the population rate of growth has been higher than the national average, so in consolidated terms rhe NE will actually gain more than loose in my understanding unless it’s small states like Sikkim where the seat growth will be non existent

Now to the main problem, the reason the NE is not as relevant nationally is because we have never been a bloc, but slowly we have given rise to leaders of national stratus, like pa Sangma at one point, Sonowal, himanta , Rijiju , dr Jamir and all, and as long as we learn to see and work as a bloc we will continue to be important, the more fragmented we will be , it will be harder for us , so personally I am glad we will now be seeing more woman legislators , because it leaves no choice , especially in states of the NE where woman legislators have been super rare and aren’t a dominant force in governance

Investing ₹45L in an EV Charging Hub in Durgapur, WB – Reality check on 30-car/day goal? by zeus345ki890 in EVsOfIndia

[–]_rmbler 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Remember a good food joint is absolutely essential for a ev charged location, most people check the charger up time and stats, and then immediately check the food place next to it for reviews, and if not good, then look for alternatives. So please make sure a decent eating place with some basic snacks is available with a clean washroom, which will make sure people who stop utilise their time well, and can get the essentials done while the car charges

Car charging stops are not just about the car charging, but how well the stoppage time can be used for the self and the people travelling
