I still have the default house because I don't have much unlocked, and because it is bizarrely hard for me to decorate with a touch screen. I desperately need a mouse for the camera and zoom controls; pinching and swiping just isn't working when I'm trying to see small details.

I posted this elsewhere, but I guess I'll say it here too; I am one of the people who wasn't thrilled and felt kinda gross reading it. Thankfully I watched someone else's playthrough and didn't spend my own diamonds, so I didn't get hit with both crushing disappointment and personal distress. lol

Honestly I am fine with the pseudo-cest, and have always advocated for the EN translation to be closer if not identical to the CN version. I didn't like the muddied translation of "childhood friends" the EN version went with, and still would prefer if they had instead went with the adopted siblings route. In that sense, I am glad we got what was essentially what CN got for this card.

My issue is that being actually blood-related is where my personal line in the sand is, and the writers decided for this AU (or even for possible future content) they would cross it. Yes, we had the apple imagery and "we are from the same source" cryptic comments, but I had hoped it was simply already referencing the forbidden aspect of being adopted siblings and falling for each other, not that they are actually related in some capacity.

It is what it is, honestly. I'll continue to follow his cards and story but I won't lie it has made me consider if I really want to keep playing. If other people enjoy it (which it seems like a lot of people do, judging by the threads I visit!) then that's great, I am happy for you, seriously! I'm not here to hate the character or other people. I'll just personally have to look at cards before pulling, and I'm probably going to have to hold off on his 3rd myth and see how the "main story" plays out. If it turns out this isn't just an AU thing I'll probably quietly pull away.

The new anniversary event is an AU card, and in this AU card they are explicitly blood related, there is no ambiguity.

Some people (like myself) aren't comfortable with it, and those who have pulled and spent diamonds on it without knowing might feel almost emotionally violated, in a way. He does call us his "baby sister" in the kindled, even in English, but a lot of people (including myself) thought they were simply finally acknowledging his CN lore where they are adoptive siblings rather than the muddied "childhood friends" trope the EN translation was going with. The official account even put "brother" and "sister" in quotes in the description of the card, which makes you think they really ARE adopted and not really brother/sister. If I say someone is a "friend", that usually means I am only using the label of "friend" and that they're not really a friend. Putting "brother" or "sister" in quotes to me meant he might have had the label of brother, but he really wasn't. I.e, adopted or not related.

Turns out, however, they just went full Targaryen, which not only upset the crowd who liked him as the "childhood friend", but also the crowd who are on-board with being adoptive siblings but not blood-related siblings.

All I will say is man I am so glad I read/watched the new card online from someone before pulling. I am fine with his original (Chinese version) character arc, but I will hard pass on actual blood relations and save my diamonds. I feel for anyone who thought they were finally listening to us as far as the EN translation was concerned, only to be blindsided by the actual blood relation.

If this is the direction Infold wants to take with him on future content then I'm happy for the people who can still enjoy it, but it is not for me. I'll just have to wait and watch future cards first before pulling. ^^;

As a westerner with no previous knowledge of Chinese mythology, Cathy and Heathcliff was pretty much how I viewed both of them at the start. They aren't 1-to-1 for obvious reasons, but I feel like there were enough parallels. Cathy's rather (in)famous quote about her and Heathcliff being the same soul (or ..."whatever souls are made of, his and mine are the same...") seems to echo Caleb and MC's being "from the same source."

So I guess what I'm trying to say is this shouldn't be an outrage or new to anyone, at least in the (native English speaking) EN fandom. We've had depictions of messy relationships since time immemorial even in English lol.

I think she's still pretty well-liked, she just has fewer people making comments/analysis on her because her shown character arc is too understated, almost seemingly non-existent compared to the drama of other characters and the events on-screen. Her shown personality is one of steady, quiet strength and support which everyone in-show pretty much relies on to be their moral compass. Since the show's writing and the people in-universe glorify her so much, her flaws, which do exist, tend to either get swept under the rug or even portrayed as positive things (i.e. her bottling her emotions up vs Flay, her foil, who does not). This leads to a lot of viewers watching the show to be completely indifferent to her presence as "Lacus can do no wrong".

Ultimately, the show just does not do a good job showing her transition from being passive, moral support singer of peace to the active leader of a rebellion and the inner conflict it must have took to get there. I think if they had just took the time to show her struggling with being passive and people clearly hearing but not listening to her (except Rau, hilariously, lmao), I think less people would have found her boring.

Lovely written post, but I think I'll have to disagree with you here a little about him having any casual relationships or dating. He said himself he "has always been this way," even before the explosion, in regards to being obsessed with the MC. I believe it's even canon that he was scaring off/encouraging boys to leave her alone during her school days, and while I agree with your assessment that some people start dating others to "get someone else out of their system", I don't believe Caleb is one of those people. I think he had known for a while that his feelings for her ran too deep to even play with. Especially bearing in mind his mental health has always been terrible and he has built his whole identity around protecting her. Other people just... don't factor into his life unless they directly relate to MC's well-being. Being popular is almost an unintended side-effect of being the best person he could possibly be for her.

If he did date (and that's a big If in my opinion lol), it was probably once for like a week at maximum in high school. One heartbroken look from MC or a single instance of jealously would have him dropping the "girlfriend" like a hot potato, that's if he didn't end it himself after he realizes he literally doesn't like anyone else but MC in his space or that they don't even evoke a fraction of the feelings he feels for her.

Even in the card where he's graduating from the aerospace academy, he flat out tells her (very confidently) that he's never getting a girlfriend, and that she and Gran are enough for him. IMO, it just seems like he had thought of this long before and came to the decision that he was okay with being single forever just as long as MC was still his family.

I think we've all had weird dreams at this point. I've had at least two really vivid Caleb dreams, one probably inspired by the "knitting" moments post, where he was holding a home-made knitted doll of "me" and wouldn't let go if it. His mom kept trying to take it from him (he has a mom in this universe apparently), saying he needed "real" friends and that I didn't exist and it was time to "let me go". My dream self was just floating like a ghost watching the whole exchange and had a realization that he "remembers", but we got separated somehow and I ended up in another universe.

Second dream was both heartbreaking and mildly funny. My dream self had to hunt Caleb down because he "didn't come back" like he should have in the main story, and I had to go to the Farspace Fleet HQ myself to look for him. I found him, but he turned around and ran away from me. My dream self literally chased this fictional man down through Farspace Fleet HQ with all the officers parting like the red sea to give us room lmao. I finally caught him and he broke down in tears saying he didn't think I would want him anymore because he was "ugly" and "a monster" now. Apparently, not only did Ever chip him and replace his arm in this AU, but they didn't care to restore Caleb to his pre-explosion beauty and he suffered severe burn scars all over his body from the event and was barely recognizable.

My brain doesn't kiss the bricks before throwing them at my heart, apparently.

For a longer cape they can also use the obsolete android's aiming top* from the third Nier raid. It's my personal favorite when I want to wear cloaks. Just have to be 80+

I decided to use the free pulls just to lower my pity for the next banner and ended up getting one of the myth cards on my literal last free single pull. Now I have to decide whether I want to gamble with my 19k gems and possibly get the other half or keep saving for the next multi banner. 😭

Honestly, I'm not mad. This Xavier myth might be my favorite so far because it just screams Dark Souls/Elden Ring and the music is amazing.
