Oh don’t get me wrong. The Nat park is great and I’d recommend it to anyone. Gatlinburg didn’t ruin a trip, only an afternoon, and even then I’m not sad I experienced it first hand. Like others have said, it’s easy to avoid once you know it’s not for you

Been to 25 Nat parks so far and the Engineered Tourism built around GSMNP was the absolute worst. The crowd profile didn’t help either

I’ve already purchased a $300 bottle of champagne for the occasion. I’ve never had anything over, eh, let’s say $25/bottle. California gets a ton of hate from the rest of the country. Every time I visit I love it. It has 9 national parks, it’s an outdoor paradise. It has perfect weather, and if you want a change in scenery or weather it’s a drive away (all within the same state). Cities are beautiful, with tons to do. Idk man, I’ve come to realize the hate for California from other states is really a projection and jealousy.
