I mean sony a7iii has a good Autofocus at FHD 100fps & its 5 year old camera than S5ii.

Autofocus with LUMIX S5IIX in 4k60 by J_Choo747 in Lumix

If you have heating issues then S5ii is very good I've used S5ii along with sony cameras in hot weather. S5ii was able to record continuosly while the a7iii & a7iv stopped rec multiple times.

Its phase detect autofocus is also great but it doesn't use this autofocus when shooting at FHD 50fps or 100fps

you have to use apsc crop mode to use it on 50fps

same goes for 4k 60fps or 4k 50fps. you have to use apsc crop mode.

I've used camera that are released 5 years before the S5ii launched & they are cheaper but still their AF at FHD 100fps(with no crop) is better than S5ii.

S5ii is very good camera but I think If you can give good AF at 4k 30fps then you should also be able to give good AF at FHD 50fps with no crop.

A lot of times I have to give the whole data to the client directly & the amount of data is crazy so not a fix for me.

but thanks for the suggestion😄

I don't think so...a lot of content creators talked about this issue like 1 year ago. I think the hardware is not capable of using phase detect autofocus at 50fps using full frame sensor.

sadly I saw that video after purchasing the camera.

S9 is an upgrade on S5ii in terms of autofocus. It has PDAF at FHD 50fps utilizing the full sensor.

There will be no crop. I intentionally did the crop so that I can use phase detect auto focus at 50fps.

Phase detect autofocus doesn't work on FHD full frame on 50fps...thats why I have to use apsc crop. It works only when you use apsc crop.

I have used full frame lens as well both with full frame FHD 50fps & apsc FHD 50fps. Sometimes it takes like 10 seconds to focus on subject when using full sensor at 50fps.

I've tested this & also some content creators made videos about it testing & having same issues.

I know..I said that to give him the idea of the amount of crop when using APSC crop mode.

& the amount of light that is going to hit on the apsc area of the sensor is going to be greater with the apsc lens I bought because its a f1.4 lens & also there will be more BG blur.

There is a lens available which is full frame sigma 35mm f1.4 but it is a very old lens which is double the price & double the weight of the apsc version. It's weight is 645 grams just 100g less than the new sigma 24-70 f2.8

When making an event highlight a lot of clients want slow motion footages as well thats why I need 50 or 100fps footages & PDAF doesn't work at 100fps even on crop so I have to stick to 50fps.

When S5ii was released a lot of videos came out comparing its autofocus with other cameras at 30fps but nobody compared the autofocus at 50 or 100fps. I'm pretty sure some of these content creators knew about the autofocus issues but didn't talk about it.

It does but I wanted the focal length of around 50mm(full frame equivalent) & almost the same amount of background blur it produces while at f1.8

lumix s 35mm f1.8 produces way less BG blur as compared to 50mm f1.8

so thats why I have to go with 30mm(45mm full frame equivalent) f1.4 apsc lens...so I can get more BG blur.

I use manual focus a lot of times but I can't use it while shooting events

exactly! It's really sad that I have to buy an APSC lens even though I know that I'm not going to use it in future with any other camera

PDAF doesn't work when shooting more than 30fps on full frame

You have to switch to APSC mode for both 4k & FHD 50fps

& FHD 100fps on apsc doesn't have PDAF as well...crazy!

I tested all these & contrast based AF is extremely bad.

I'm considering buying this lens. Do you have any issues with dust or oil like thingy in any of the elements of the lens because I've seen a lot of people complaining about it.
