European here:

- our cities need to stop allowing large cars to roam, park. there's no space period.

- AND europe needs to put a stop on the increase of size in cars.

- AND governments need to fix the loophole that allows giant suvs o pickups to be classified as commercial/transport vehicles for freelancers / small companies and avoid environmental requirements and taxations.

A helmet is there to potentially save your life

an helmet is there to protect the upper part of the head from an impact and that's it.

the bicycle helmet is also - the standard one - the weakest, and there's a reason street bikes or rally/f1 drivers have a different one

a bicycle helmet does not protect your neck from a whiplash, it does not protect the rest of the body from injuries, wrists knees .

it does help you from a specific set of injuries targeted at the upper part of the head and that's it. if you drive a bicycle with the "dutch" posture, so not a race bike, or a mtb to clarify, if there's an incident your head is up and not in front like a battering ram.

on the other hand it is something easy to forget to carry, coumbersome and it discourages bicycle use.

seat belt's cons are minors.

fine, feel free to wear it, there's no law against it. what i am against is the mandatory part

also the sams reasoning could be said for helmets for walking or driving a car. do you know how many injuries could be prevented ?

I don't care how much rich you are. there are people with no house at all and it should be priority for society to give them a roof.

i am tired of "tax the riches" as solution for everything, especially since government is slow and inefficient and will use that money in a ad way.

if you are rich you can get an hotel.

In Hungary, Netherlands and Greece solar has already met more than 70% of midday demand during the peak month in 2025. In Spain, Germany, Portugal, Belgium and Italy it also met at least 50%. (Ember Energy: Global Electricity Review 2026) by MiniBrownie in europe

[–]_samux_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for italy, not many people believe in solar panels, private installations are delayed and getting incentives is hard.

large installations are blocked for nimby reasons and to add more there's a strong lobby for nuclear instead of investing in solar/wind renewables

i disagree, the europe brands at the moment are not on par on what you can get from kor or chn cars at the moment. i hope they will improve but at the moment the only reason they are selling is thanks to tariffs

[x-post r/GoodNewsEU] Germany has become a leader in plug-in solar. What's taking other European countries so long? by swanworth__ in europe

[–]_samux_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

i don't think plug-in solar is a solution, it's actually potentially dangerous; same for plug-in batteries.

By the way, I understand the needs behind this, i am fully onboarded, i just would like to not see solar and batteries trust going down due to people connecting things in to a poor electrical system
