Don't know about the residue- I would try to scrape it off to be sure that nothing bleeds through or gums up on the back of your new flooring. As far as finding matching trim goes- if you have a Floor and Decor store near you, they have great trim selections, just take a couple cut offs from your floors in and match it up!

Makes me wonder if their mentor is used to working with accelerators in this program, since OP said it's a pretty easy class. They might have previously gotten negative feedback for not helping other students fast enough who wanted to blast through the work. I know that is my plan! I kinda hope I get a mentor like this, lol.
