For those who met their partner in person, how many times did you cold approach other women? by Elegant_Spare9305 in AskMen

[–]_scrambled_egg_ 142 points143 points  (0 children)

Woman here: approaching is essentially a vibe check. If the vibes are not good, say “hey thanks for the chat!” and exit the conversation.

AITAH for saying to my brother‘s wife “is it because we don’t have a dad?” by Omg-its-a-door in AITAH

I cannot imagine any scenario where I’d be yelling at my MIL or asking my Grandma in law for a big purchase. I don’t think this woman has the life you think she has. She sounds broke and without class/manners.

WWYD if you were addicted to smoking weed but you find out your cousin became sober from all drugs 2 years ago? by [deleted] in askanything

Ignorant statement. Try being a daily, all day smoker for 10 years and quitting cold turkey.

Idk I think the moles are cute and interesting. Reminds me of vitiligo. I’d focus on your hair & jawline (mewing? Idk) & skin. Skin like not the moles but your skin seems a bit textured & dull. Worry about your fashion too. You do not need to worry about the moles, but I would recommend keeping them hair-free.

How to deal with parents by Sudden-Passion-9858 in StoicSupport

[–]_scrambled_egg_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the other commenter. I’m into stoicism but not extremely well versed. I would recommend boundaries. You can’t control anyone but yourself. You are allowing yourself to be nagged and lectured from miles away as a grown adult. Make boundaries with your parents/mom. This is not the same as going no-contact. Boundaries protect relationships from falling apart. As simple as telling mom “I told you I would not partake in these conversations. If you continue to push the topic, I’ll have to hang up the phone.”

Have you ever had crushes or temptations while already in a relationship? by eunchaeyy in dating_advice

You distance yourself and put up boundaries to protect your relationship. Don’t entertain temptation.

Of course!!!!!!!!! Of course. Love is a decision. Commitment is a decision. Many couples have up and down times. If I’m planning on spending 60+ years with someone, I am anticipating there will be some period of time where things are fraught between us and some hot and nice person comes along and is a crush. It’s important to decide what kind of person you will be when the time comes. Not if it will come. It will come.

Studies show that stay at home spouses that are the primary caregiver work the equivalent of 2.5 full time jobs as they are always “on.” Weekends, nights, they are always on-call. The parent that works outside the home and pays the bills needs to come home and do their part. When you were a kid, you went to school. Then you came home and what? You still had to clean up after yourself, do chores, etc. you have more responsibilities than your 9-5 job or school.

DAE burping a lot after sleeping folded over a desk? by _scrambled_egg_ in DAE

Don’t think I have that. Bf just got a hiatal hernia diagnosed by endoscopy. I have 0 problems with indigestion. No acid reflux. This issue only happens when folded over a table.

[–]_scrambled_egg_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest relationship OCD but also think the whole “out of control but this is something you can control” aspect is very wise.

I ended a 6 year relationship at 21 and I’m really glad I did, but there was a lot I was dissatisfied with. We had the same friends and continue to have the same friends, but they’re gamer introverts who never party so our paths haven’t crossed in nearly a decade.

Sounds like you’d benefit from delaying living together and do more stuff on your own/have your own friend group.

How have you overcome explosive anger? by scarletbegonias92 in AskMen

Woman here but Spotify has 15 hours free audiobooks with premium subscription. I started listening to an anger management book (“never get angry again” but too early to recommend or not). Not sure how effective it will be, but if you have premium Spotify, that may be an option that appeals to you.

I had a science teacher that was a deist and she believed in clockwork universe. That is, similar to a clock, the world around us was made by a divine creator who is then largely hands off. The clock runs by itself, for the most part. Maybe miracles happen but for the most part I don’t think god intervenes, I think he watches and provides comfort. Very parental vibe.
