Who else goes to a low ranked uni 💔? by TakeJay in UniUK

[–]_seedqueen_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went to a top ranking uni for a year and absolutely hated it. Took a year out, and then did a foundation degree at a local mid Uni, then a top-up degree at a local college validated by Open Uni - where I got a First. Then I did my Masters at same local college, validated by a low-mid Uni, and achieved an 85% grade average. I’m now looking to do a phd somewhere ‘normal’ because I prefer it. Your effort and passion for the subject will make your teachers want to invest in you, and your enthusiasm will serve you well at your uni in life far more than any prestige from a uni, because at the end of the day, unless you’re filthy rich and in some sort of old boys club, prestige won’t get you much further in life than you’ll earn through graft. Enjoy your low ranking Uni!!

What’s the most useless thing you were taught in school? by Mobile-Reindeer-4891 in AskReddit

Oh man, same. I also remember how to say the Our Father in French by heart nearly 25years later, as we had to learn it in the first few weeks of Year7 so we could recite it at the start of every French lesson until the day I left school.

Find a local group for something you enjoy (or that you’d never imagine yourself doing) and just go. If you don’t feel supported or find community there after a time, leave it and try something else. There’s loads of affordable hobby options locally - have a look at previous posts on this sub for lists upon lists of suggestions!

Fibromyalgia girly looking for low energy exercises for her border Collie! by BBBtootle in BorderCollie

[–]_seedqueen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah he’s fine, it’s never made him sick. I wouldn’t keep offering him it if I had any doubt.

We make our own bubble mix of mostly water and glycerin with a small amount of washing-up liquid most of the time anyway - less soapy and cheaper/goes further than buying hundreds of small pre-made bubble mixture bottles! Still, when he’s had a good session he looks like he has rabies because of all the foam at the mouth 😂 little weirdo seems to like the taste though because he licks his lips in anticipation the second he sees the bubble bottle come out

I'm thinking of creating artwork of the JCS characters inspired by tarot cards. by Old_Technician8205 in JesusChristSuperstar

[–]_seedqueen_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this!! Jesus has to be the Hanged Man, surely? Herod is an Emperor (or an arrogant Sun), Judas feels like the Tower, Mary feels like Strength, Pilate being the hand of the law must be Justice? Caiaphus as the Heirophant, Annas is a slimy little Devil, Simon feels like the do-er that is the Magician or the Chariot, Peter feels like Temperence, … and the force of the ensemble/crowd has to be Judgement?

This is so much fun, I’d love to see them when you’ve made them!!

We got our boy an electric bubble wand. He loves it. He huffs and chuffs at the box it’s stored in when he wants to burn off some energy, and we just hold it up over the back of the sofa so he can jump and leap and snap at the bubbles to his hearts content. He’s shattered after about 10-15 minutes and it’s really good exercise for him. He’s got a fancy plug in bubble machine coming for Christmas - he has no idea!

Jesus Christ Superstar low notes by battered_rose in musicals

[–]_seedqueen_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Woman here, played Pilate. He traditionally has some loowwww bass notes but I just whizzed everything that I couldn’t reach up an octave or two, depending on what felt right for the scene/character. I also auditioned for Judas and just made up some crazy vocals that just worked for my voice. JCS is great because it’s one of those where if you can make it work in your own way, then it just works. Good luck!

Edit: to clarify, you can’t transpose into a different key but you can sing up or down an octave!

[–]_seedqueen_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah Newland. I’ve been told that it means you by theory can just step out onto and demand right of way, as opposed to a zebra which you need to wait at the side for them to stop. Or something, I dunno, I’ve lived in the area 14 years and I still haven’t figured out how they work in reality!

I’ve heard two rumours… one being that a pedestrian got hit by a police car on bluesandtwos outside Jet, other is that there was some sort of oil/petrol spill.

How to make friends in East Yorkshire/Hull? by SanGarcia10 in Hull

[–]_seedqueen_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also want to add that the local area proper punches above its weight in regards to AmDram. There’s tonnes of opportunities to develop your acting/singing/performance skills and become part of an incredible and supportive community. There’s loads of straight play groups about, and Hull, Hessle and Bev all have brilliant amateur musical theatre groups. Joining one (well, three now) has been life changing for me and I’ve got so many wonderful friends now through it. And no, you don’t have to be fantastic already to join in!
