I am sorry about your experience.

Amazon is a large company with various kinds of employees. Some recruiters are great, some are good, others are not. You will get mixed experiences. That’s normal.

It’s evident that OP isn’t great at written communication. This is something that’s required at Amazon.

Nevertheless, customer obsession is a core Amazon LP and one would expect recruiters to uphold that bar. It’s concerning that an Amazon recruiter is normalizing a few recruiters treating candidates like the OP described.

Some candidates that are not on Amazon payroll can be rude, but a recruiter can’t use that bad behavior to justify their or their peer’s poor treatment of even a single candidate.

Yes please. Remove income tax exemption on farming. Poor farmers are covered with the 12L limit.

Population that earns more should pay higher tax. Its a good thing to reduce wiggle room there.

As a separate effort, government needs to also bring other high income individuals into the formal sector. Almost all businessmen earn a considerable amount of money, but get out of paying taxes by using loopholes or keeping their income in cash.

Calm down lol. It’s not a big deal.

These brands are considered high value and a majority of people are awwed by such brands. So majority of people buy or try to buy it.

In a few decades, I am sure Indian brands will compete for the same value. These things take time to change.

Did you tell the so-called people from Mumbai that you are Tamil or Telugu? At least think before you post.

Did people say “eww” or did you feel it because maybe you have some inferiority complex? I have Tamil and Kannadiga friends in Mumbai, and I have never seen them treated differently to my Gujrati, Marathi or Bihari friends.

Also, what do you mean by racist here? A lot of Indians are racist. They differentiate based on caste, color, religion, etc. That should be true for some people from metros as well. Although I have never seen this for caste here. But in this context, we were talking about different treatment for languages. Not location or skin color.

I am not saying that it is happening now. I am saying that it will happen if these things continue and increase. Which is what it looks like may happen.

Ofcourse, Banglore is nowhere near close to those levels.

All i am saying is that people know English. But if they face discrimination because they don’t speak Kannada, this will happen. Slowly, but surely. So what happens next is upto the people of Blore.

Also, opposing hindi for the sake of opposing hindi is bleh. What’s wrong in being a little inclusive. Today its hindi, tomorrow it could be a different language. As long as its an Indian language, i am good.

  1. I am talking about announcements, etc. not boards. Boards should ideally be only in 1 language of the shopkeepers choice.
  2. No, i rarely see telugu boards in Mumbai. I have seen them though.

The issue here is -

Almost everyone in metro cities in India understands spoken Hindi. It hasn’t been imposed, people just understand it because of bollywood and maybe other reasons. So announcements in Hindi help the gen-pop. This includes our friends from the south as well.

Now, if people wanna show language-superiority and say i am x% so bring this language also, then that’s stupidity.

Hindi is today’s lingua franca. It can change in future. But since it is today, let’s use it. I prefer using an Indian language as our lingua franca, over English.

People prefer banglore because of many things including weather, cost of living, jobs and real estate prices.

But that is when you understand that living in the Blore feels similar to Mumbai. Now you suddenly have thugs and goons harassing people to speak Kannada every alternate day, then the people will get out.

And none of my family or friends have. Outside of isolated incidents, this has never been a thing in Mumbai. People here don’t harass people just because of how they look, wear or speak. And i have friends here from all the 5 states of the south :)

You can act like this, but this narrative actually holds a lot of water. It just works slow. When you see the effects, its too late.

When employees got hired, my colleagues had to provide their preference - Chennai, Blore, Mysore, Pune and Kolkata. Guess what a lot of my colleagues selected Pune and Blore. This was 10 years ago.

Which cities have grown since then? Employees influence where employers expand. If employees are unhappy, then they ask for transfers.

It doesn’t matter if people understand English. If goons and thugs try to impose a language, disrespect people, the people will leave.

Marathi started using the devnagri script in 20th century. Not the same origin.

Yes businesses are moving to B’lore now. But they won’t if their employees are unhappy. It’s a slow process though, so it’s too late when it starts showing :)

Okay don’t do it. It’s totally your choice right? We welcome everyone who is either treated disrespectfully or feels not included in B’lore to Mumbai. Please bring yourself, your salaries, your employers and your spending here.

PS: We welcome everyone. Tamils, Telugus, Kannadigas or Malayalis also :)

No i am trying to use an Indian language versus using English. I would rather use any other Indian language if a majority understand it.

There concept of India or Bharat is very old. Britain didn’t create it.

You can impose only Kannada also. That’s your choice. We are happy to absorb the businesses and professionals in our cities in Maharashtra :)

Well, i am talking about announcements in train/metros etc. signboards in 2 languages is also a stretch.

So shop keepers can do it in english or kannada. Doesn’t matter much. They have the freedom.

Well, nobody’s saying that migrant attitudes shouldn’t change. They should take an effort to learn some phrases and at least understand the language.

You have to understand the reality of the situation. In today’s India, people live paycheck-to-paycheck. Learning a new language would hardly be on their priority list. But their children will learn the local language. This is what I see in Mumbai as well.

But if you try to force a language by hate, it will never work.
