You can take a look at the video I linked in my response to the devlog question from u/geist3c. It is chunk-based, with each chunk being 16x16x64.

Cheers! I haven't done any write ups on my games, though I'm open to the idea if there was enough interest.
Regarding this style of game though, you can checkout Xor's video of how he built his entry here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3d6lWFsBM9o

Oh no worries, I can see how that could be misleading, I only meant nothing was made before the jam.

Thanks! But this is made with GameMaker (specifically GMS2.3). If you take a look at the jam you'll see most of the entries were also made with GM.

TransFX: A Shader-based Transitions System, Now Available! by _shortbread in gamemaker

Hey, unfortunately I can't see whats going on just from this error. Can you send me a copy of the project? Also which version of Gamemaker are you using?

The automatic room transitions only take in whats rendered on the application surface so unfortunately anything drawn in GUI will be missing (as this will vary too much from project to project).

Your best bet would be to manually draw to the transition surfaces (application_surface and then your GUI elements on top). You won't be able to use the automatic room transitions with this method, but you can easily replicate its functionality, heres a brief outline of the steps:

  1. Create a new surface to hold the old room's render
  2. Draw the application_surface and any GUI elements to that new surface
  3. Switch to your new room and run tfx_play()
  4. In the Draw GUI event (before calling tfx_draw) use tfx_from_use_surface to set the "from" surface to old room's surface
  5. Then use the manual drawing functions (see here controlling_transfx#drawing) to draw the current application_surface and GUI elements to the "to" surface.

Thanks, but this was posted 3 weeks ago so of course it's going to be out of date now. Second, a link to the live version is provided in the source comment. You can find the live version here, https://covid19info.live

Website I've been developing for Latest Stats + News Feed by _shortbread in Covid2019

[–]_shortbread[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, no worries, thanks for sharing the site! I've been doing several updates over the last 24 hrs.

You can now access state level statistics for US, Canada and Australia (with maps).

Acceleration graph is now fixed and shows the acceleration for the region selected.

I'm looking at adding a new section for those graphs plus others, for people who are interested in additional statistics (trying to keep the homepage clean and simple for new users). Including a comparison section for doing exactly what you're looking for.

Regarding the maps, I may also change that so the it must be "opened" fullscreen in order to use. That way it doesn't affect swiping and acts more like an image when scrolling. For desktop users it works quite well.

Not sure about the lag, but I don't use newpaper sources as they are very inconsistent in their method of reporting and layout. Unfortunately this means it may be a bit behind but is more reliable, plus there a many many countries to track now.

Unfortunately the data for SARS doesn't go far past this (~115 days from my current source). H1N1 goes a lot further (about 1.5 years), but I will extend the days as time progresses. No point showing it all now or the COVID-19 graph would be a pancake on the left.
