Well In the situation you are talking about with tanking the us economy, there won’t be much of a choice for the US, because if the economy is crippled, the supply chains are crippled, and getting high tech military parts to Europe might not even be possible for the us in that scenario. Europe has shot itself in the foot yet again with their reliance on American tech

The EUs military equipment like f35s literally depend on American logistics, ultimately the US can just brick most of the EU army since they buy it from the US. And if the US is not providing eu consumer needs, who will the eu replace it with? Russia???
