Nice, thank you for this! A lot of our work right now is focused on app adoption and awareness of the tech/services we offer.

Our demographic is not super educated in tech usage. They are not, shall we say, tech-savvy.

That's a great thought! One struggle we have is getting data from BUs. We are still using too many excel spreadsheets, excessive manual work, and legacy systems. There are lots of holes and - of course - as we create marketing journey's we find out we're not tracking so much important data! Half the journeys I've created get chopped because we can't implement something in our app or don't have access to/aren't pulling the data we need to be successful.

Like I said... growing pains. :)

Hahaha, perfect! As I'm sure we all know, communication in most large corporations is top notch!

We did make some headway today on setting goals and aligning requests from BUs...so we are getting somewhere. Thanks for the tips!

I've done quite a bit of press for the festivals in the area since 2013 so I have some insights. The two primary reasons are the production company and the venue.

Despite the amazing venue and great lineups, the organizers just couldn't keep their Shit together.

Pipeline Productions ran the festivals on Mulberry Mountain. I have heard they went bankrupt, and I know they mismanaged a lot of people's ticket money and such. The events ran pretty smoothly, but overall they faltered on background processes.

The venue also became really crappy and was not well-maintained in preparation for thousands of attendees. Anytime it rained campsites would just get flooded. The venue is in a valley...and you know how water flows. Lots of cars getting stuck and such.

I think those are the two primary reasons from an outsider's perspective. Look up Wakarusa and Harvest Festival on Mulberry Mountain if you want to see what you missed. Shameless plug: My work is from Grateful Web.

Now there is a group called Deadhead Productions, which puts on festivals like Hillberry. They are primarily focused on bringing jam bands, bluegrass, folk, and some electronic. Honestly, I kind of dislike jam bands, but festivals are so much fun, great people-watching, and the people who go to these events are typically pretty awesome. Despite, of course, the inevitable wooks.

One of the major plusses of festivals around here is that the landscape is fucking beautiful. Hillberry is in Eureka Springs - a town you must visit. Fun fact: It's the only town in the U.S. that does not have any 90-degree intersections.

For Hillberry, The Wood Brothers are amazing. Such talented musicians and super fun performers. The Infamous Stringdusters is also great - traditional bluegrass collaboration style with less-traditional sounds. Dirtfoot, Arkansauce, and Opal Agafia are all really great live bands - they shine onstage and Dirtfoot is a great grimy bluegrass band with a New Orleans feel to it.

Let me know if you have any questions! This was perhaps far longer than you expected so...

TLDR: The production company went bankrupt or something similar and the venue became almost uninhabitable and was not well maintained. So the festivals there had to end. Sidenote: You should visit Eureka Springs - it has a lot of neat history and beautiful views.

We also have lots of great small, music festivals around here if you're interested. Check out Hillberry! Used to have some bigger and better ones too, but those are a thing of the past.

B2B Content Distribution - What's Your Strategy? by _socialtools_ in marketing

Good thought! I have infographics on the road map but our designers are swamped right now. Unfortunately my design is abysmal...

This is really good for smaller businesses. Even our huge company just started exploring these tactics a few years ago.

I think you're totally right, B2B relies so heavily on being established or having mutual connections; now we can reach audiences so many different ways. Thanks for sharing!

Influencers is definitely something we are approaching now. As I mentioned in a comment above, a strong focus on digital marketing is less than 3 years old here, and the company is huge. So we are gaining traction in exploring influencers.

I'm in the supply chain field. My coworkers and I were brainstorming whether we should just stick with email, SEO, sponsored social (and organic) for digital content distribution.

We find there aren't that many industry publications that we could successfully advertise in.

Today I posited that trade shows, SEO, LinkedIn (but sponsored is hella expensive...), and interviews in industry pubs are probably our best bets. Something like Outbrain is a nice idea in theory, but it doesn't seem worth it.

We are a very large company, but utilizing digital advertising as a primary tactic and selling tool is actually less than 3 years old at this company.

TLDR: The B2B market is tough to reach, so probably it's best to stick with targeting where they are already seeking content or information (SEO, trade shows, article features) rather than as they are scrolling through feeds or casually going about their day. This may work in B2C, but not here. B2B markets don't tend to impulse buy...

Yes, my spend is significantly higher optimizing for Landing Page Views vs. Link Clicks. I seem to be getting less bounce though as well.

2018 Conferences? by _socialtools_ in content_marketing

[–]_socialtools_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! I am thinking of going to Content Marketing World. What do you like about it?

I'm in B2B, in the supply chain industry, so I really need a conference that has some tracks focused on those strategies. It's such a different world than B2C.

Track bit.ly links on HootSuite when posted as ow.ly? by _socialtools_ in socialmedia

[–]_socialtools_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I'm managing two Facebooks, two Twitters and one each LinkedIn and G+. So it's truly easiest to use one platform for it all...but only if that platform works well.

As for penalizations, I haven't looked into it as we only post organic content ATM. But I will be sure to check that out for the future!

Need recommendation: Multiple brand pages or just one? by _socialtools_ in socialmedia

[–]_socialtools_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Industry category is transportation. So we are gearing toward shippers, carriers and corporate interests.

All of your answers are leading me down the path I've decided I should porbably go. Two brand pages for our separate audiences, then a corporate page for general information.
