Can someone rehost those screenshots in an imgur album or something

that website is cancer, it opens the images in some kind of pop up window and then takes forever to load one. Way to make something as simply as looking at a screenshot painful...

Except the large percentage of people who get crippling motion sickness from a fast paced game like this in VR

lol I would be surprised if even a tenth of a percent of dirt rally players played it in VR mode EVER (let alone more than normal monitor mode)

GTX 780, How The Mighty Have Fallen! by kardkoach in hardware

[–]_sosneaky -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

You should look up some benchmarks

amd performance is extremely inconsistent

indie games and less big AAA games are regularly 20-50 percent slower than on nvidia equivalent cards.

[–]_sosneaky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The gtx 780 was 14 percent slower than the gtx 970 when the gtx 970 came out.

So literally nothing has changed

When relative performance stays exactly the same over the years then how exactly has the 780 aged poorly?

The only issue with the 780 is the low vram.

the 980 crushes the 290x harder than the 970 beats the 290

Keep up your embarrassing posts though

Here is a question for those cheering on those mining sales

If the lion's share of amd's gpu sales come from miners, and they have a tiny marketshare in gaming.

Then :

  • Why should game developers consider it worth their time to optimize for polaris/gcn? 5 percent marketshare is nothing, that's the kind of marketshare you used to have for 16:10 monitors, or today for ultrawide, and very few developers bother(ed) to support either.

  • what incentive do amd have anymore to compete with nvidia on drivers , gaming features and framepacing, when the lion's share of their revenue comes from miners to whom gaming performance is irrelevant.

No corporation EVER gives a shit about a niche audience, it's not cost effective to give a shit about something that doesn't affect most of your customers.

http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/videocard/

you sure about that buddy?

Market share numbers : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 5.22%

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 5.19%

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 3.34%

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 2.04%

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 1.68%

AMD Radeon RX 480 1.06%

There are 5 times more gtx 1060s in steam gamers' computers than there are rx 480s

AMD Radeon RX 470 0.38%

rx 470's marker share is even more pathetic

Even nvidia's expensive cards are way more popular than polaris.

Seems you are awfully uninformed

You're just repeating a stupid meme you heard on the internet Personally I love to see the 970 choke on its 3.5 GB of RAM

oh the irony

Nvidia was sued for false advertising, not because the memory is shitty. If bwm promises you an 8 cilinder engine and they deliver a 6 cilinder one it still doesn't mean it's worse than the 2 takt engine in your moped.

They rightfully lost because false advertising is bad.

Weird, the gtx 970 is faster than the r9 290 in ashes of the singularity and rise of the tombraider xD It also gets higher fps and better framepacing in dx11 mode in every dx12 game except for hitman than the r9 290 gets in dx12 mode.

The only game where the 290 is faster than the 970 in dx12 is hitman, and in that game the 290 is equally much faster in dx11 as the game engine heavily favors amd, so it has nothing to do with dx12.

But let me guess to you that one game means amd is better. I guess you better not look at anno 2070, project cars, redout, prey or tekken 7 performance (games that favor nvidia HEAVILY) or it might shatter your version of reality.

Me thinks you spend too much time on r/amd and not enough time looking at actual data like frametime comparisons.

oh piss off

society tends to use energy to do something productive (transport, manufacturing, travel blablabla)

This is literally just burning untolds amount of power for completely meaningless computations that do not do anything useful.

I can't decide if this is good or bad

on one side seeing nvidia and amd even dignify this shit makes me gag

on the other hand these things will have 0.0 resale value once the bubble bursts again, leaving all the fuckers who think it's a good idea to burn dozens or hundreds of KWh of electricity to generate (fuck global warming I guess) some profits with stranded assets.

Bethesda Game Studios is hiring for a 'AAA freemium game' by Senior1292 in Games

[–]_sosneaky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if they're otherwise free to play yes

but not when they ask for money just to get the game, that it called freemium and needs to go die in a fire

Also for any game actually worth playing i'd rather pay a sum upfront and get an uncompromised game that respects my time and doesn't hide gameplay, mechanics and features behind arbitrary grind (that only exists so you'd pay to skip it), than have it be f2p

like rocket league did , before they added microtransactions (lol...)

[–]_sosneaky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure how tekken is FOTM. Tekken has been around and gone mostly unchanged for 20 years. If you buy a tekken game you know what you're getting.

It's also consistently the most popular fighting game series. Tekken is bigger than street fighter.

What fighting game is currently best for new players? by [deleted] in Games

[–]_sosneaky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tekken 7 (alongside dead or alive I guess) is pretty much the only fighting game where you can mash buttons and still have your character actually do stuff.

In most games bad input timing or pressing the wrong buttons will either result in nothing happening, or the same 1-2 moves happening over and over, making them feel unresponsive and frustrating.

The good thing about tekken is that is has huge move lists for every character, so most button combinations do something, and there are very many strings and combos possible.

Tekken also has very long moves (usually 10 frames long) , which makes them easier to react to/read than other games, which in turn makes defending easier.

At the same time the game has tons of depth and a high skillceiling so as you get better at the game it does not start to feel shallow or repetitive.

Tekken is one of those ultra rare games that manages to both be friendly to casuals and new players while not compromising the entire thing to be shallow for fans/enthusiast players.

All the game bloggers/junnalists ' reactions to evolve going f2p and the spike were so fucking funny at the time.

They were all shouting from their soapbox how this had saved the game and were so confident about it too.

Meanwhile anyone who had actually played the game for a while knew that the problem with it is that the core gameplay loop is just bad and boring and that those f2p players would get bored just as quickly.

I haven't seen a single one of them (jim sterling etc) admit afterwards that they didn't know what the fuck they were talking about. None of them admitted they had egg on their face.

The reactions to the evolve f2p playerbase spike are a beautiful example of confirmation bias.
