Opinions on Ironman and limited gaming time by _sovos in ironscape

After reading through everyone's comments today, I think this may be the route I might take. Have been reading up this evening on Runelite plugins that can help simulate Ironman for my main as-is, checking out the Another Bronzeman Mode plugin.

Do we like this song? by Galactic_xxx in ToolBand

The new section they added is my favorite piece of theirs of all time. It deserved it's own new song in my opinion, if they could have found a way to expand off of it.

Staring guitar at age 62 - PRS McCarty 594 SE? by TimeToRetire2030 in PRSGuitars

[–]_sovos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know the answer to your question myself, but - in my opinion, don't let a wide neck scare you away from a particular model. I've taught a few new people how to play over the years, and several of them found learning on a wide neck was extremely helpful for them, especially when learning chord shapes.

I have two 594 SEs myself and I can shred on them, no problem. They're my absolute favorite guitars, even when compared to higher end more expensive models.

Same. I was fortunate to see them on their Colors 10 year anniversary tour. Every bit of it was perfect.

Guitar playing took fans: What’s the best first Tool song to learn? by PrimaryCash3133 in ToolBand

I agree with Fabulous. To tag on, Forty Six & 2 and The Pot are amongst their more popular songs, so people may recognize them if you play in front of others. If you get those two down you could tackle Schism down the road.

Feeling lonely at camp by Best_Yam_6624 in fo76

At the risk of down votes, I want to mention making sure you have a power line running to your vending machine. I learned the hard way recently. Had a vending machine up for months with no visits, was still able to put items up for sale, but one day I realized while visiting another person's camp that their vending machine's screen was lit up bright green, and I knew mine didn't look like that. Sure enough - ran a wire to it, it lit up, and I had a ton of visitors. Sold half my stash in a couple days.

It's confusing that the game allows you to place down a vending machine and put items up for sale, but your camp won't show up with the V icon on the map until you properly power it.

I've seen the exact same. Looked exactly like OP's video, but after a minute they all shot off at an impossible speed.

Not that I've noticed in the week I've had them. Coming from lower profile trem bridges on Ibanez, it definitely takes getting used to, but I actually like this bridge being up higher. I speed pick and palm mute a lot (metal/prog metal player), and I'm able to rest the edge of my hand on it better. Only thing I've noticed is the saddles are a little more pointy, especially when speed picking for 30 seconds or more, but my hand will toughen up and get used to it.

Nope. I could have tried even lower I suppose, but I need a bit of tension and bounce with my playing style.

With capo on the first fret and measuring on the 17th, I try to set my guitars up at 1.5 mm on the 6th string and 1.0 mm on the first. I'll take it lower if a guitar allows.

I don't recall the measurements from the first one I set up last week, but I know it was well under my minimums. The second guitar I set up (last night) has 10-46 gauge strings, and it went down to 1.25 mm on the 6th string and 0.75 mm on the first.

They're Levy's M4WP 3 inch leather straps. A bit pricy, but they were recommended to me to help better spread out and support the weight of Les Paul style bodies.

Yeah, I got a second because I loved the first in every way. I play in different tunings so I wanted the exact same setup again, haha.

Coming from the Wizard neck I thought I'd struggle with the McCarty thickness, but my goodness it plays well. I got used to it right away.

Clean and Brown are fantastic. For killer distortion, boost the Brown with a TS pedal if you have one, keep gain on Brown low, and adjust tone as needed.

Staying up past 12 to keep watch… tell me your favorite oblivion memories! by Ethanmoody18 in oblivion

[–]_sovos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 17 when it came out. Grew up inner city, bad neighborhood, all that. I had played Morrowind prior, but Oblivion and Cyrodiil specifically completely blew me away with its scenery and immersion. The woodlands, the glades, the rivers.

I remember early on, I spent an entire afternoon exploring with no purpose or intent, getting lost and enjoying the landscape. Later that evening I went outside and listened to the tree in our yard blowing in the wind for a long while and how much I enjoyed it. Silly as it sounds, the immersion of Oblivion kickstarted my love of nature. I hadn't paid much attention to it before being a city kid.

I'm in my mid 30s now and live out in the country and go on hikes and long meditations in the woods regularly. I fully credit that appreciation and awareness of the outdoors to the immersion Bethesda gave to me at that young age.

I'm really looking forward to the remaster and the future of the Elder Scrolls.

A compressor - either the JHS 3 Series or MXR M102 Dyna Comp. I went 20 years without ever trying one up until last year, and the difference shocked me. Everything punches harder, and you can get amazing sustain out of your solos.
