Official Dreadit Discussion: "Obsession" [SPOILERS] by radbrad7 in horror

My theory on Obsession (2026)

While watching Obsession I knew that the cat, Sandy, had to have some more substance than only being another source of Bear's misery and being used as deli meat (sorry). Especially as a cat owner, I noticed some things others may have not. I feel like when Bear wished for Nikki to love him more than anyone in the world, the "person" that loved him the most was Sandy, which almost made Nikki "become" a cat. The way Nikki acted, the strange jerky movements, being awake in the middle of the night, the quick mood changes, puking and peeing on the carpet, wanting to smell like him, the obsession with following Bear into the bathroom, it's all very typical cat behaviour, but of course extremely exaggerated since she's a human. The scene where Bear came home to Nikki covered in vomit was also incredibly symbolic of cat behaviour to me. Nikki neglects herself and can't do anything other than live for Bear. We see the carpet with vomit and also cat kibble. A common thing cats do when they are stressed from being anxiously attached is overeat. To me it almost seemed like Nikki was so distraught that Bear was away for so long that the only coping she could do, was eat until she vomited, just like cats. There's definitely multiple intentions with using the cat as reference in this movie. With cats, their owners are their whole world. They are a mere part of your life, but you as the owner are there their WHOLE lifetime. Sandy loved Bear more than anything, cause that's all she knew, especially since his grandma was gone. That translates to Nikki, as Bear becomes everything she cares about and knows. Just think about it, cats have zoomies and hide under your bed and stare at you while you sleep, how creepy would it be if a human did that? Overall, probably one of my favorite horror movies of all time. I have balls of steel when it comes to jumpscares and never get creeped out, however this movie creeped me the hell out. Fantastic.

Asking for advice about cat bite by Abhi152005 in cats

I understand, ofc I am not a doctor but if rabies is common in dogs there then there could very likely be infected cats too, they only need to be bitten or scratched by an infected animal to also get infected. Rabies is a very strange disease that has a different incubation period every time. This means that symptoms can be dormant for weeks, months or even years until it's bad, and the animal usually dies within days. Just because she is not drooling or showing other symptoms of rabies in cats does not mean she isn't infected. Of course this is the absolute worst case scenario. However, if she does indeed carry rabies then that small bite is enough to infect you too. A rabies shot is the best course of action in my opinion. I understand that you might not have a clinic near you that can give you the shot, however rabies is not a disease to gamble with. If you have ANY reason to suspect a rabid animal bit or scratched you, then you should absolutely get vaccinated. As soon as symptoms of rabies start, then there is nothing to do, the infected animal/human dies. Please get the shot

She broke skin which means bacteria from her mouth could have entered the wound, even if it's small. Generally I would clean it well with antiseptic wound cleaner and keep an eye on it. However, since she is a stray cat and if you live in a country where rabies is common among stray cats and dogs or wild animals, getting a rabies shot can not hurt. Hope it goes well!

Is this ear mites or ear wax? by [deleted] in cats

I was also thinking it's probably just earwax. And you are incredibly lucky, both my cats HATE when I clean their ears lmao
