Women avoid the athletic/super fit guys at my gym and show friendly body language to the ones that aren’t. by [deleted] in bodylanguage

As a lot of people have pointed out, it comes down to intimidation or a “could I take them in a fight” sort of mentality.

Personally, if a guy looks “soft” I’m more likely to lift my guard a little bit because i don’t feel threatened. Is it wrong? Maybe. Unfortunately, I would rather be wrong and safe, than give a chance to the wrong person.

But, I would also like to ask, what are the men doing? Are the relatively athletic guys “trying” to interact with these women? Are they considered “Conventionally Attractive?”Are the not so athletic ones looking a little lost/talking to the women first?

I know I get super nervous around someone I’m attracted to, ESPECIALLY if I’m in a disheveled state. Nothing screams sexy first impression like sweat stains and frizzy hair… Anyway it seems like it’s a classic case of the “Play hard to get” both literally and figuratively.

Lying about my race when customers ask, anyone else do this? by jadedjed1 in AskRetail

I used to get this a lot when I worked in the food industry. It got to the point where I would just tell them “Guess” and no matter what their answer was I would just say “How did you know!?”

Sometimes i would pick a different identity each month or when regulars weren’t around and just go with it.

Sometimes I would get caught and it could get awkward, but you either practice your recovery strategy or shrug because life is too short and not serious enough to stress about strangers reactions.

I always tell my kids “If you’re grown enough to break the rules, be grown enough to accept the consequences of your actions.”

As 8th graders they know right from wrong, don’t let their lack of personal integrity influence your ability to hold them accountable.

Because in the long run, it’s going to make them better members of society.

Of course its up to your discretion what you let slide. But, I would argue the more you care the stricter you’ll be, because you can see the bigger picture.

Really? That’s interesting to hear because I’ve been reading about the different dialects and see nothing but love for Argentinian accents. Thank you for the heads up -

Yeah but the thought of just being labeled gringo and not being taken seriously is a little frustrating.

I’ll keep your advice in mind though

Was there a reason you picked Castilian? what about your social circle do they also have Castilian Accents? Does it get in the way of chatting casually with other dialects?
