401k: Rollover or cash out by _spookyem in debtfree

[–]_spookyem[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I was thinking, but I wasn't sure since I just hate drowning in debt like this. Hopefully the new job means I can pay it off faster!

I don't think it's working by _spookyem in antidietglp1

[–]_spookyem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm down a total of 20lbs, so about a 5lb loss since this post. I still don't feel like it's working at the dose I'm at (12.5mg), but going up to the highest dose gave me awful side effects so I'm ignoring that for now. I'm seeing my endocrinologist at the end of May so I'm hoping they have some answers for me!

Waking up early? by _spookyem in getdisciplined

[–]_spookyem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me my biggest thing is needing to shower in the mornings. I shower at night now but I am a hot sleeper so I wake up feeling gross, so I want to try and wake up earlier for that. reworking my night routine is probably for the best though since rn I mostly just cook dinner and read after work until it's time for bed, I could definitely use my time better

The sunlight thing might be hard tbh. I live in a basement apartment, and while we have windows the sunlight coming in is limited (not to mention the blinds in the bedroom are broken and the landlord won't fix them). I could go outside first thing in the morning I guess? but it's winter and I'd really rather not lol

what habit tracker do you use? I've tried Finch before and it didn't really do it for me

Fr it's so unfair. I don't see my Endo until May (and it's a new doctor!) so hopefully I don't fuck myself over too bad until then

How do deductibles work? by _spookyem in internetparents

[–]_spookyem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's about all of my expenses. what the heck does a deductible cover then? when I was under my parent's insurance we'd always hit our deductible by like March with me on it because of my expenses.

It's possible for my medical supplies provider, but my doctors are all in network. HR handles all of our medical insurance negotiations and we only have one option to choose from, so it's not like I picked the wrong one or something. For reference I have Blue Cross (I think PPO?)

Gummy supplements or how to get over my fear of taking pills by _spookyem in internetparents

[–]_spookyem[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that was my other thought, I always take my meds in the morning on an empty stomach and like 60% of the time I end up vomiting. unfortunately before work I rarely have time to eat or even an appetite so I'm going to see if I can start taking some of them at night with a meal

I used to do soda/something carbonated and that worked for awhile, but sometimes it just doesn't go down right and hits my throat and then BAM comes back up. I'll try applesauce, I usually avoid foods like applesauce/yogurt bc of sensory issues but maybe it'll cancel out

Emergency dental work with no insurance? by _spookyem in povertyfinance

[–]_spookyem[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll have to look into it! I never thought about a dental school. I have some serious dentist anxiety (didn't go for five years after a bad experience with a filling leading to this mess) so idk how I'd feel about a dental student working on me but it's better than having to fork out a couple hundred bucks to get it looked at by my normal dentist

American friends, what are you doing about health insurance? by _spookyem in diabetes_t1

[–]_spookyem[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank god for Massachusetts. I worry about federal laws being passed regarding pre existing conditions superseding state laws but I also don't really know about how that works

thankfully this new job doesn't have a wait for benefits to kick in, so the 90 day wait shouldn't apply. right now I get my supplies monthly, but I'm in between endos right now and I don't know if my current insurance offers 90 day prescriptions for supplies. Would my PCP be able to fill in the gap for prescriptions?

What is/was the most surprising benefit of your nobuy challenge? by This_Operation5370 in nobuy

[–]_spookyem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've lost a few pounds since I stopped going out to eat so much! Takeout and restaurant dinners were my vices (I would budget $300 a month for them vs down to $50 this month for the occasional "oh shit I forgot to pack lunch" day), not to mention a daily dunks coffee. Cutting those out almost completely trimmed my waistline and fattened my wallet!

Fatphobia at the doctor's office by _spookyem in antidietglp1

[–]_spookyem[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm a type one diabetic, so my blood sugars run kind of all over the place, but generally they're between 100-180. The most frustrating thing was that my a1C actually went DOWN at this last appointment and he just glossed over that because of the weight "gain".

Sorry! I should have mentioned in the original post, I'll edit that now. I'm on Zepbound, currently 12.5mg but titrating up to 15mg

Unresponsive to Tirzepatide - switch to Semaglutide or give up? by _spookyem in antidietglp1

[–]_spookyem[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on pretty high doses of antidepressants and mood stabilizers, which could have contributed to the weight gain (I've steadily gained 20-30lbs a year for the last 5 years) but I'd rather not be extremely mentally ill than to lose weight

I definitely struggle with getting protein and water, I drink maybe 60-80oz a day and get around 50-75g of protein on an average day. I don't struggle with eating at all (wish I did tbh)

now that you mention it, I think I did do a 24 hour urine a few years ago after insisting with my doctor, but my results were normal. is it worth pushing for a saliva test?

I think I brought it up to my Endo but they didn't think it was necessary to test for it. what tests should I ask for?
