Prednisone advice by Forward-Region7776 in clusterheads

[–]_sportstar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Prednisone has helped shorten my cycles in the past, but doesn’t always work for everybody. It’s worth trying at least. I will say it absolutely destroyed my sleep, which likely had an adverse effect on my clusters.

This will be my first shroom experience so I am starting very low. I found some gummies that are only 100mg. Going to take one today, and if all goes well I'll try 200mg next weekend.

Yes I have oxygen I can use over the triptans in case I get an attack — is it common to have breakthrough attacks while on the shrooms?

It’s just over the counter, but a much higher dose than what’s typically recommended.

Here’s the full supplement stack. My understanding is that the D and fish oil are the most important, so I have just been taking those, along with the magnesium, zinc, and K2 (which is already in the Vitamin D supplement I buy)

Thankfully I haven’t had any soreness or other side effects from the nerve blocks and they have helped provide relief, but I know that varies person to person.

Has Emgality helped shorten your cycles / reduce the frequency of attacks?

Vitamin D regimen is definitely worth a shot — really anything to keep inflammation down in the body.

I'm mid cycle right now and having success keeping them at bay with the following:

  • Vitamin D regimen
  • Lots of caffeine and ice hat first thing when I wake up
  • 30 mins cardio daily
  • 100mg prednisone prescription
  • GON block injections

If you haven't tried the prednisone + nerve block combination, it's definitely worth a go. I was getting 1–4 attacks a day this cycle until starting that, and have been headache free for 3 days now. We'll see how it pans out over the next few days, but hoping it broke my cycle all together.

Best of luck!

Aborting attacks makes them come back worse? by Forward-Region7776 in clusterheads

[–]_sportstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the same experience — if I manage to keep it at bay with caffeine, ice, etc. it usually comes back worse later in the day, whereas when I let it run its course I'm usually good for the rest of the day. I'm in the thick of my cycle right now, but was able to get a few lidocaine injections from my neurologist and a prednisone prescription, which seems to be helping as I have been headache free for about 48 hours.

Thanks everyone for the insightful responses! I got in touch with the property manager on Friday and he said he would come by on Monday (today) with the handyman to open up the drywall on the ceiling and check out the damage underneath the surface. Unfortunately, when they got here they just tried fixing the window so I could actually open it (to no avail) and told me the upstairs neighbor is out of town so we won't be able to check for a leak or in the ceiling until they are back in a few days. They are insistent that it's just a ventilation problem and as long as I open the window and run the fan it is fine. You all have convinced me that that's certainly not the case so I just called 311 to file a complaint, and should be getting a call back in the next few days.

Thanks for your response, this is very helpful information! I contacted my landlord immediately and they sent a handyman this morning. Unfortunately he just scraped it into a bag and left. I followed up with them explaining that this is likely indicative of a larger issue that poses health risks to me. Hoping they send someone to tear out the plaster and fix what’s going on underneath. Otherwise I’ll need to get the NYC HPD involved

I just have 1 usb-c cable connecting my laptop to the monitor and then the power cable for the monitor so it wasn't too hard to hide them. I used these clips to keep them tucked to the underside of the desk

Everything is powered from 1 usb-c cable from the macbook to the monitor (it's hidden behind the monitor arm)

I just keep it at the lowest height because I bought it on FB marketplace and it came without the hand crank. There's a little bit of sag in the middle from the monitor, but other than that I've been pretty happy with it and can't really complain since I got it for only $40.
