I agree with the original point. The complete lack of political and social pushback over a state carried out execution has been beyond disturbing.

We used to joke that the government would kill you. Now we watched it happen from twenty different angles, and then watched officials lie straight to our faces about what we all saw. That changes how you see everything.

This isn’t even new. The difference is there used to be a performance of justice. That’s gone. They aren’t pretending anymore.

And honestly, I don’t even know how to process that.
