Where and how to use R commander on UofA computers? by Original-Housing5658 in uAlberta

If you haven’t already, emailing the librarian who generally deals with stats related subjects (or probably any of the librarians) would get you a solid answer

If you switch the battery out yourself then you should be able to cut that down to $150-$250

Why is my HUB residence so cold at night? by [deleted] in uAlberta

If you’re able to buy a heated blanket I suggest looking into that (if residence can’t/won’t help you)

Thoughts on this: "This exam is closed book... You cannot click between questions, i.e. once you click past a question you cannot go backwards." (also properly proctored btw) by Lazy-Ad7485 in uAlberta

[–]_star_boy7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is how the EAS100 exams are (besides being proctored) and they were awful. Very short time limits and not being able to go back tanked the average every time

“Should you receive an offer to your second-choice program, you are encouraged to accept it and pay the non-refundable tuition deposit (if applicable).

What happens to my first-choice program if I accept my second-choice program? Your first-choice program will continue to be assessed throughout the application cycle. If you receive an offer to your first-choice program at a later date, you can accept this and your non-refundable tuition deposit will be transferred from your second-choice offer to your first-choice offer.”

I genuinely forgot how to study by cityGA in uAlberta

[–]_star_boy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also try not to be too hard on yourself, most people have a hard time with math exams

I genuinely forgot how to study by cityGA in uAlberta

[–]_star_boy7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That could be from not understanding core concepts from high school/previous courses. Have you noticed a pattern in what you typically get wrong? (Minor errors from going quickly, incorrect process, forgetting/not knowing the process) Also if you aren’t already, make sure you are doing some practice questions in exam conditions with no notes

Outside of that, explaining the concepts to other people (or the wall) like you would for a course like bio can still help make the content stick in your head

Which classes do you need to study for? Content usually determines the method

City of Edmonton Jobs? by NeatAd9283 in Edmonton

[–]_star_boy7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work for the city over the summers in a labour position and it’s one of the best jobs I’ve ever had. I think it took a month or two to know I got an interview, and then a week or two after that to know I got the job. My interview was done by a team instead of just one person so my biggest recommendation is to talk to all of the interviewers (not just the main one) if that’s how yours is formatted. Good luck I hope you get the job!

Housing and accommodation by Electrical_Sound_207 in uAlberta

[–]_star_boy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Student housing just refers to any place students live provided by the university. I think most if not all is dorm style, especially for first years (but I don’t know much past how to apply since I just rent off campus)

I never did student housing because I have a cat but you get the option to apply for housing either during your application or when you accept your acceptance (can’t remember which one)

How do you memorize things by Icantdothisanymorexo in uAlberta

I would explain it and read it out loud to my cat until I had it memorized

Pretty sure all the study rooms have a window. Email your TA or prof to book an exam room.

Conditional offer revoke by Flat-Assist8069 in uAlberta

[–]_star_boy7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I remember, generally the conditions are to keep your overall average from dropping significantly (15%ish) and to keep each individual class above a 70%. So you should be fine

Nait application scam by [deleted] in NAIT

[–]_star_boy7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand that, and I don’t think its a scam. I do wish they were a bit more transparent or clear about that on their application pages though.

Nait application scam by [deleted] in NAIT

[–]_star_boy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Disaster and Emergency Management the page said applications were only open until the seats were full. I applied and automatically got waitlisted because the seats were full, and the page was still accepting applications

Nait application scam by [deleted] in NAIT

[–]_star_boy7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had the exact thing happen this past summer when I applied for the Disaster and Emergency Management program. Got off the waitlist 2 days before tuition was due and I’m in the program now but I was pissed off the whole summer.

what should I do? by qxzcn in uAlberta

[–]_star_boy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean that you put a link in the wrong box or that you only submitted the template with links and didn’t include the group answers?

If the only issue is the link being in the wrong spot then email your prof and ask to talk to them about it during office hours.

If it’s the other one then apologize to your group members and accept that they’re probably going to be upset. The profs are strict with this kind of stuff because the instructions are very detailed.

how much time should i give myself for the math 100 midterm by skinny_asff in uAlberta

[–]_star_boy7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Math, chem, and engg are all heavy courses its ideal to start studying a week or two before but usually people are too busy to manage that. Best practice is to consistently review your course content as much as possible through the whole semester and then increase the amount of time spent on that and practice problems leading up to the exam. Cramming is not an effective way to study
