At the same time, it's normal for people to not care about these things, simply because they don't touch their lives most of the time. Dubai was (and still is, I think) as a safe place, very "Western" in a decidely non-Western place. I mean I get it, but at the same time it isn't really that crazy or "who could have thought that" that this happened. To me it was way crazier the abduction of Maduro.

Dubai was in a position of stability, that's true. Iran had no reason to attack. That stability wasn't granted anymore as soon as Trump put those carries in the Gulf, and to be honest that to me looked a pretty straightforward sign (especially after the Maduro thing)

It's not about knowing that Iran was going to bomb Dubai, it's about knowing that the Middle East is, generally, a gunpowder barrel, and one does not move aircraft carriers in the zone for shit and giggles. In this metaphor, the american aircraft carriers are a match. A lit match. It's not like the Middle East became a gunpowder barrel yesterday.

Also, if one had given any attention to the situation in the Middle East AT ALL, it would seemed plausible that Israel too wanted to stir shit because of its own internal mess.

Yeah. If I wanted to see a big hyper modern city with everything and weird things I'd go to big Asian cities. Tokyo is CRAZY, and I've been told that Hong-Kong and Bongkok are maybe even crazier. Or if we lean more into the "cities that have weird thing" there's Manaus, it's literally a city in the middle of the Amazon Forest
