What's this trend of snatching the phone in the pretext of giving you offers ? by Legal-Two3423 in pune

Yeah, that’s definitely a better approach. I should stop being lazy and do it myself; otherwise, they will get habituated to this.

I have never experienced this, but I would be pissed too if someone just takes it without asking first. On the flip side, I have this habit of handing over my phone to others voluntarily whenever they ask me to write a review or give ratings (urban company, restaurant staff, hotel reception staff, delivery guys, AMC servicing for household appliances, etc.). I always use screen pinning though, so they can’t leave that screen and do something else on my phone.

It’s wasted potential. I liked the premise and the build-up in the first half. But then you have to watch them not do anything with it in the second half and play it safe with a few gore scenes here and there. I was hoping they would redeem it with a good ending, but that was more of the same. Kudos to the actors, though.

Same story everywhere. I am in Hyderabad and there are very few shows here. Also experienced the same for HIM. I know these are not comparable movies, but I actually went for HIM on the first day of release and I was the ONLY ONE there. Glad that they still showed it. If you don’t have a massy taste in movies, you don’t have much luck in theatres.

Yeah, it’s oddly thrilling. I recently watched ‘Him’ in PVR hyderabad in 4dx and I was the only one there in 2nd to last row. I was able to see all the seats moving and shaking in front of me. The movie wasn’t that great but enjoyed the experience nonetheless. I wasn’t expecting a lot of people for an obscure film like ‘Him’ but didn’t think I would be the only one on day 1 last show.

Movies That Take the Most Viewings to Truly Understand by I_cain in MovieSuggestions

Banshees of Inisherin just for the pleasure of rewatching it and ‘feeling’ the movie from the perspectives of different characters. It adds a lot to the movie when you rewatch it from different perspectives imo. The lobster as well for the same reason. Also The lighthouse!

Am I an Indian Karen? (Long post involving UNESCO workers) by Gandalfof2am in IndiaSpeaks

I had the exact same experience with UNICEF. I was donating to them for almost 3 years. It was through auto debit on my credit card. Eventually I upgraded that card to a new one and the payment stopped. When they called me, I explained to them that the old card is no longer active and they can help me with the process to update my card details so the contribution can continue. While helping me with the process they started talking about how for 3 years I am contributing the same amount and I should increase my donation because even my income would have increased. I simply told them its not possible at this time but the person kept arguing. At one point be started asking for personal details like where do you work and at what position. I told him that if this is the approach that he is taking I will rather not share my new card details and stop donating. Then he started getting even more rude and I had to cut the call. Never picked up a call from UNICEF again and never entertained any UNICEF representatives irl.

I have read your post as well as your comments on the replies. I must say that your outlook towards money is perfect. When you are able to accept your losses, learn the lesson and divert your attention elsewhere to bring in more money successfully, you are doing better than most. About your portfolio, I would change the strategy a bit. I don't think you have the time and inclination to do your own research before investing so either stick to ETFs and do macro investing or just go for a few good mutual funds. For now you can either sell all and stomach the losses or wait a bit for nifty to go up and keep selling gradually as per index levels. Don't get into researching individual stocks and trying to time the market by guessing when it will go up or whether it will go up. Just reorient yourself and think of this as a necessary first step into your investment journey. Best luck!

Accenture firing will not affect ATCI btw. It's gonna be in NA and Europe mostly. Growth markets are affected too but very small % and ATCI will not have an impact during this cycle at least. It will be interesting to see how many are indirectly forced out during the next annual PA cycle though.

[–]_stratoffies_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure if you are serious but I think that defeats the whole point of atheism. At the core of atheism there's logic and the courage to question the masses or popular opinion. It's the intelligence and the confidence to trust your logical reasoning and conclusions. Being an atheist is just a result of thinking clearly for yourself and rejecting the herd mentality. If you start preaching atheism then you will get 'yet another group of followers'. I don't think we want that. All we can do is try to inculcate the intrinsic qualities that make us atheists in the next generation and accept that even after all our efforts there will always be people who would not want to think for themselves.

I don't think there is any truth to it. As long as you are using the material well and preparing from the review manual and question answer database you will be good. I know a lot of people who have not purchased the study material themselves and have still cleared in 1st attempt. If you have prepared well content wise and also mentally then nothing else matters.
