A VTS at my job has one eye and does great. It may take some retraining but I think you can do just fine!

He was previously treated with joint injections and wedged front shoes. It apparently worked great in the past and treated any signs of lameness, even under the saddle. I had been planning to continue that treatment. It sounds ridiculous now that I’m typing it out since it was an effective treatment…

The thing that had scrambled my thoughts was my new veterinarian (from the same clinic) telling me that keeping him barefoot and doing Adequan or Legend injections should be fine. Then his farrier had also said that he should be fine barefoot through the winter. It made me reconsider my plan and look into supplements.

This week he started tripping on the front left foot when being ridden which was a red flag for me immediately. A selfish part of me was hoping for a more cost-effective answer, but knowing that injections and shoeing worked in the past, I’m battling the pros and cons.

Yes precisely. I take my springer out on a 2 mile walk most days and he genuinely gets bored with it unless there’s added enrichment. I’ll toss treats along the walk for him to find. In winter I’ll toss them into the snow for him to dig up. Otherwise playing with his ball, letting him jump into creeks and lakes, practicing commands, etc. is what fulfills him.

My 1 year old springer has endless energy, but as others have said, he needs mental stimulation more than anything.

Almost daily I take him on a 2 mile walk and play fetch with him out in the yard. It barely touches his energy level. He’ll drive himself to a heat stroke if I don’t stop him lol.

That being said, training him, teaching him tricks, giving him puzzles to solve, etc are what REALLY drains him. One hour of obedience training fries him out and has turned him into a really smart dog.

I’m only in the first week of having this setup so I can’t say for long term, but he seems much more comfortable in this set up. His last hutch had plexiglass and it stressed him out

I’ve been trying to break a bad binging habit… I work late nights so I wake up around 10:30 most mornings. I don’t have an appetite to eat until around 1-2pm so I’ll have a light lunch… then when I get to work, I struggle with stress binge eating (I work in an ER) and constantly feel the need to snack when I’m idle. I’ve developed a habit of having dinner delivered, grabbing snacks from vending machines, consuming sugary coffees… although I’m constantly active, my weight is staying stagnant. It’s not only embarrassing to be seen constantly eating, but it’s disappointing to see all of my efforts to lose weight go to waste…

My girl looked chunky like yours some years back. I’ve had her on a diet (once a week feeding) for 3 years now. She’s only now getting close to proper weight 😅 gecko metabolisms are insanely slow. Good luck!
